I think the exposed threads get a lot of trail grime and dust on them.

Hit ‘em with some WD40 or your favorite penetrating oil. I used Blaster and let ‘em sit a few minutes. Snug but removeable with a long lever (I double wrenched but a long breaker bar or impact would probably work).

I just installed a set of WeatherTech mudflaps on my 2-door Base Sasquatch. Those front fasteners were quite annoying to remove. I finally just cut them out of there, which is what I would recommend for anybody else. A sharp knife or some wire cutters seem to work. I tried both. They definitely don't want to unscrew with a Phillips screwdriver. I had to bend a tiny bit of sheet metal back into place before using the WeatherTech screws. I pulled off the front fender flares to make it easier to get everything in place.

The rear flaps were significantly easier to install. Although I'm not sure how tight the three screws can be before they strip out the plastic. I'll have to check that they don't come loose over the next few months.

For the price ($55 a pair) I think they're a pretty good deal. Now I need to go find some mud to test them out. ;)

Did you have a problem fitting the front mud flaps? There’s a short frame extension behind the front wheel on my Outer Banks 2dr with standard wheels and tires. That frame extension prevents installation of the mud flaps. What’s the purpose of that bolted on frame extension anyway? Did you have to deal with that by cutting the boss off the mud flap?

Could you post a photo of what you're having a problem with? The ONLY hard part of putting the mud flaps on my Base Bronco was getting the plastic fasteners out of the way. Everything else was quick and eqsy.

Okay one issue I had was not using Loctite on the two bolts on each side at the rear. Two fell out. Then I used Loctite on the replacements and there should be no more issues.

I just installed weathertech flaps this morning (front only) on sasquatch with factory sidesteps. I agree with others that they could have made them a better fit w/sidesteps - especially for a company that prides itself on custom-fit products. And the washed-out black & white pics on instruction sheet leave a lot to be desired.

Just a couple tidbits:

:: If you're right-handed, I would install the passenger side first. There's a bit of a learning-curve, and the 1st flap will take longer than the 2nd flap. And on the passenger side, you'll probably be using your right hand more for tool-holding than your left hand. Then the driver side should go faster and won't matter that you're using non-dominant hand for most of the work. If you're left-handed, the opposite advice would probably hold true.

:: For me, turning the steering all the way to the LEFT to install passenger side and all the way to the RIGHT to install driver side seemed to work best. But it's almost equally challenging either way with sasquatch. Someone else said they removed fender flares for install, and maybe that helps too.

:: One concern I have is the V-shaped gap between flare and flap. Makes me wonder if it'll allow some splash through there. I guess time will tell.

Pic from previous post from another member showing that gap:

It is insignificant compared to what gets past the bottom of the mudflap. I still get mud at the bottom of my doors, but no longer clear up to the door handles.

Did my first 'lite' off-roading last weekend (nothing major). I've got Weathertechs on front only (Wildtrak). They did great keeping mud off the doors & windows. But that V-shaped gap between top of mudflap and bottom of flare seems to let just enough mud through to hit the front of the rear tire flare just right.

Nah, that stuff flipped up UNDER the mudflap.

You can verify this by filling that gap with a bit of duct tape or something similar and you'll see the same amount of mud on the rear flare.
