Why will U-Haul rent a trailer to a Bronco with hard top but not soft top?

It’s because Uhaul believes one shouldn’t have sold ones self short on a soft top just to speed up delivery.
Hmmm your assuming that I did that. You know what they say about assuming.😂

U-Haul is worried if you emergency brake hard enough then the trailer could be launched cartwheel over your Bronco, landing on the soft-top, killing you and the passengers. Creating a potential liability. Little do they know the MIC tops won't fare any better
That's been my point all along. I don't know if that is their thought process but Its flawed. They need to reevaluate. The bronco is a 6500 lb vehicle. Can't compare it to a jeep with respect to the trailer pushing it around. As long as you keep tow weight at or below stated capacity it shouldn't be an issue.

It was a joke, and a good one at that. But seriously, am I right?

Think about it. Most convertibles do not have roll cages, or roll bars. So some convertible mustang or the like can't rent a U-Haul because the trailer can cause the vehicle to handle differently and crash (potentially with a rollover)

U-Haul needs to update their policy so that vehicles that have full roll cages are allowed. I mean do they seriously think towing their trailer is more dangerous than crawling up Hell's revenge?

This policy has been in place for a long time (a few decades?). It is not new for those of us that have been owners of removable top vehicles. Welcome to the club.

BTW, the 2 door Squatch tows the twin axle trailer fairly well, but you can feel the weight back there.

Do they put nasty notes in your file if you give them back the trailer in a completely topless Bronco?
