So I got the cargo tray from @GoatFab last week. Waited til Friday to try to install it and ran into a couple of issues.

Let’s start by saying the cargo tray is beautiful and heavy! Quality construction, quality hardware. As soon as I opened the box I knew I liked it. This is the 2nd item from GOAT FAB, and I will tell you know that it feels 100% worth the money. Not to mention made in America with American steel!

So first things first:

I grabbed the hardware and the T post and went out to my Bronco. The T post uses the bottom speaker mount and a 2nd hole. So here’s where I had a problem. Apparently certain 2021’s did not come with that hole! I quickly snapped a pic and emailed GoatFab and Adam quickly responded with his phone number and said “call me”. So I called him up and we discussed ir a bit. He immediately offered to return it if that’s what I wanted to do, or I could go the route of drilling holes and installing hardware. We had some discussion and I really wanted to keep the cargo tray, so he sent me a link to the tools I would need. Now if you’ve got a nut insert kit you’re golden, I didn’t. So I ordered off of Amazon. It was reasonably priced and would deliver the next day. (I’ll include a link at the end).

Saturday the tool kit was delivered and I was at an event for a local charity so when I got home I opened it up and checked it out to make sure it had all the pieces I’d need. I was good to go!
Sunday morning I head out and set to making marks, and drilling holes!

In all honesty drilling the holes for the nut insert was a HUGE sink. Drilling was not fast, despite the bits saying they were good for steel…😂😂😂

but anyway. I’ve got it mounted and there’s where I found a few other issues.
I initially wanted to install it at a height that would allow me to still put my folding table and large cooler that I take camping with me. So I did some measurements, chose the right height holes and went about test fitting. Once I got into place, the soft top will not close. The latches hit the basket and won’t come all the way down to secure the soft too. I currently have the seats reclined a bit, and that’s likely the culprit as I just checked as I just checked and the “recline” takes up about 2 inches. I’ll have to experiment with this another time.

I got it installed and I’m very happy with it. I do need to find somewhere else for my fire extinguisher as I had it on the roll bar and it no longer has room to mount.

I also added a little flair of my own. My Submarine Dolphins.

Those are not M2M, and I’m actually considering removing them. Not sure how I feel about them. But they were a gift so I installed them.

Glad you were able to get it installed Richard. My experience with Adam has been a pleasure and I am a big fan of his product as well.

Those are broaddict by the looks of it. I've been back and forth between them, JCR and M2M. M2M has the cool fold up basket, but I really need a divider, which JCR and broaddict offer. No lower panels or basket for broaddict, but they're much cheaper... About half the cost.

Any of the rear side molle panels for soft top keep people from reaching in? Some look like they have big gaps or don't quite fit nice and flush.

They will prevent people coming in through the side window. But that’s where it stops. 🤷🏼‍♂️ you can see there’s nowhere near enough room to get a hand between the panel and the roll bars

That's been my other debate. I've got the ford security enclosure now and it's solid. I'd have to give it up to install any of the side molle

I have the Ford enclosure as well. Good security but a real pain to take top on and off and it does make a little noise. Wish there was a light weight security solution and a easy top removal or a folding top for when you put dogs in or needed access to more height.

Yeah, didn't think anything of it previously. But really wanted to keep this basket, so we had to come up with a solution. We figured it out and it's mounted so it's all good. And since I made the holes the perfect size, and they're hidden, there's no extra paint mess ups.

If I am looking at this picture correct. You only have one drill bit out. If that is the case, that is why it was so hard to drill it out. I always center punch where I want to drill, then start with an 1/8th inch bit and go up by 1/8th inch increments until I hit the size I need. that way you are only drilling a small bit at a time and it goes faster.

Oh, I ended up doing multiple bits, even used a step bit etc. But yes, center punch to mark the spot, then drill in stages. Still takes time.
