Sorry, but have never understood why anyone would lower the ground clearance of the rear diff by adding a skid plate, when it is already the lowest part and is made of solid steel. Kudos on the rest of the stuff, give folks a nice option that don't already have skid plates.

Customer service. I have a great experience with NVM. No affiliation, didn't know me, don't live in their area. I have their sliders, full belly skid with UHMW, diff and and rear shock guards.

I had an issue (likely operator error). No questions asked and they are taking care of it. Truly appreciate the trust between customer and company.

As for the rear diff skid being lower, its more about smoothing the bottom out. I have hung up a diff on many things, it almost acts like a hook with the cover/housing catching on rock edges. I didn't go with the full replacement cover.

More photos to come when everything comes in and gets installed.

Drive shaft surface rust is typical of any new vehicle. The rest just looks like dirt.

Wow that’s a lot of rusty looking parts for a new car lol.
Lots of use, abuse, submersion, bare metal parts, lack of underbody cleaning, humidity and some folks who got these rigs last year are almost out of the 36k bumper to bumper warranty!

Goatman, knowledge is power. Curious minds are how we obtain knowledge. When low-speed crawling in the rocks the tin differential cover can get peeled back like a banana. I have seen it many times over the years. I once followed a Jeep on the Rubicon Trail. Actually, I was following his oil trail. Lucky for him someone let him know he was leaking before he ran out of oil. He was pulled over trying to fix the cover when I drove by.
I once lost a drain plug on my front differential (FJ-40) after a rock caught the plug just right and loosened it. It finally fell off on HWY 80 in Sacramento.
The advantages of the smooth skid plate are many. Instead of hanging up on a rock, you slide right over it. If you get high centered your rig usually slips off the snag rather than getting caught and wedged into the rock. During high-speed wheeling, the skid will save your housing from coming down hard and cracking the casting. I have seen this happen once and it isn't pretty.
I could go on and on. I once saw a jeep roll back and the cover was bent into the ring gear, It then made a very loud noise as the ring gear was grinding into the cover. Go to Youtube and watch King of the Hammers. You will see 99% of these vehicles have a differential skid plate.

Appreciate the attemp at educating me. Sorry, while I understand your point, I disagree and will stick with mine. I've been doing this for 30+ years. Have built and wheeled the crap out of numerous Jeeps. Have built and raced two KOH cars, with a 4600 class national Championship. Have built, owned and wheeled the crap out of two rock buggies. My current is a single seat with rear steer.

I'll respectfully stick to my comment that it's silly to add a skid plate under the rear diff, which will lower the clearance of what is already the lowest point on the truck. If peeling up the cover is a concern, that's why aftermarket diff covers are sold. If you're concerned with a hard hit at speed damaging the diff that's why axle trusses are sold and installed. Sorry, the dumbest idea is to lower the ground clearance with a diff skid.

Yep, knowledge is good, and can be power. Spend the money on a better diff cover, rather than on a silly diff skid. Cheers. 🍻 :)

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree Goatman. Cheers!

BTW, I didn't respond to this comment. The comment is incorrect. I am a retired KOH driver/competitor, and for 5 years have been a tech inspector. I see every single car that competes in KOH, in all classes. Myself and three other guys tech every car, I see every one of them. I assure you that NONE of them have differential skid plates. Look, I'm not trying to be difficult, just factual. Real off roaders do not run diff skid plates. It's pointless. Get a good heavy duty diff cover, that's what the real folks do.
