Hello Bronco6g,

Recently discovered some negatives in regards to a handheld GMRS. Thought I'd share a video showing one way to install a GMRS radio. I (almost) followed the same install as Trail Recon, with a better mic mount solution.

Hope this helps anyone out who may be thinking of a GMRS install :)

I just ordered the 275, so this gives me a good idea what to expect

That's the newer high powered one?
Unless Midland re-introduced a significantly changed model but stuck with the 275 name that's a model that's been out several years, at least, and is a 15W radio. Almost identical to the 575 in usage/features (less the 575's 50W, obviously) but more compact so a bit easier to mount.

Can you use the same mic from the 275 on the 575?
Pretty sure there's a thread somewhere stating the handset/mic is the same on both. Maybe just what I remember from my own investigation/install of the 275.

Edit: Their site states two models that do both and one 275-only

Both - "MXMC01 ANC" and "MA75"

275 only - "MA275"

I'm a little slow, both models share the same mic?

I need to get around to mounting and wiring up my 275. Would love to see a vid on how you connected to the battery and a closer look at that routing path that you took.

I already have my compressor connected there by a pro and always fear battery connections.

AFAIK they are the same mic. The 2 models are as close as close can be in feature/function, just the larger chassis and "guts" to accommodate whatever is needed for the higher wattage.
