Super Clean GMRS Radio Install!

You could also power it though the delayed accessory circuit shown here.
I plan on running a 12 gauge fused circuit directly from the battery to a relay triggered from the delayed accessory circuit. The power feed will also have a noise suppressor after the relay.

I'll be powering both a HAM and GMRS radio from that feed. Both crammed underneath the center console.

The Midland MTX 575 will accept a cooling fan. There is a blank plate on the back of the radio for a fan. I plan on using a 5volt fan and powering it off the USB C port on the front of the radio.
As I'm modifying my MTX 575 I'll document, take photos and start a thread on the installation

Sneak peak
The Motorola MTX 575 will fit under the center console console directly behind the window switches, Just ensure it's 3/4" or so above the bottom of the storage console to clear the inverter that resides underneath the center console.
Installed the 35mm fan to the GMRS
Added the speakers and microphone jacks to the divers side of the console.
Ham faceplate is mounting above the drivers sun visor.

Took advantage of this forum and cleaned up the GMRS install with a RJ45 bulkhead and 3 foot Cat5 cable. Placed the bulkhead on the underside of the hvac cluster.

Can you provide a link to where you got the fan for the MYX 575?

The cooling fan is a 5 volt 35 mm fan ( you'll need longer screws) soldered and shrink wrapped to a USB-"C" pigtail.

I slathered all of the connectors and mounting bracket with hot melt glue to keep any thing from vibrating apart.

I usually mark out the square or rectangular hole needed. Then drill small pilot holes in each corner and a larger hole in the center (possibly more if the rectangle or square is large). Then I either dremel up to the corners or use a file to take out the remaining material. Time consuming, but the best way to get an accurate cutout with non-round openings.

Probably what I should have done. Ended up drilling just a touch too big, and the prongs don't grab entirely. I'm gathering I'll have to apply some adhesive around the edge of the plug. Got any recommendations on what works best?
