You'll be hitting peak colors passing through Maine to Nova ScotiaLove it. We’re headed to New England and Nova Scotia next week to take it all in. Looks like a 2500+ mile road trip from VA so far.
Sounds awesome. I had a business trip to Vermont during the Fall and it was unbelievable.Love it. We’re headed to New England and Nova Scotia next week to take it all in. Looks like a 2500+ mile road trip from VA so far.

It is in the sierras above Bishop California.Beautiful! Was this in Northern California?
I grew up in New England and the saturation of the orange and red colors at the peak there was like nothing I have ever seen elsewhere.
Location is above Bishop, CA. If you are coming to mammoth from the south can you do an excursion up Bishop Creek to see it.What location was the photo?
Hitting Mammoth next week, hope the colors are still on the trees. North of Bishop is normally beautiful.
Yeah, we just went to those this week. Beautiful. This photo was North Lake.I saw photos a couple of days ago from South Lake and Lake Sabrina and it looked like peak color.
When you get into the central part of California, where this photo was taken, you get wildly different landscapes. From west to east: Grassy and semi-wooded hills and mountains near the coast, a huge inland valley full of farms (the San Joaquin Valley), a 14,000 foot high mountain range (the Sierra Nevada) with forests, heavy winter snows, and even a few small glaciers, then east of that alternating stark desert mountain ranges and valleys.Beautiful! I was guessing Northern California just thinking of the wetter and colder climate of New England, and because I haven’t seen any of the state north of Sacramento yet. Yeah, “Northern California“ tends to just be associated with just the population centers like San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento plus Lake Tahoe. When you get into the central part of California, where this photo was taken, you get wildly different landscapes. The photo was taken very roughly around 9,000 feet elevation. Right now it's peak fall there while it's still hot and dry down in the valleys.
Farther north in the state it gets more forested. "Northern California" is often described based on the San Francisco Bay Area, when actually most of the region is quite different socially and otherwise.
