12/13 update. Ford updated upper control arms on sas have been identified on big bend! They are not carried over from ranger and protrude less. Ranger guys have fitment issues due to this and it looks like Ford has improved on this. They shaved off what looks like almost 1/4” from the lip of the control arm
we also confirmed all offsets. Below shows the factory confirmation of 1” backspacing on big bend. And the height of control arm sits just above big bend tire. Knowing offsets and tire sizes we can now accurately carry over the spindle from trim to trim.
below shows big bend, OBX, OBX with 275/70r18 (33.25x11.1), badlands, and Sasquatch. OBX upgraded tires show no issue if badlands fits.
Face of steering knuckle to mounting plate is 8 -5/8 shown on all models. The tightest two scenarios are stock BL and OBX with upgraded tires seeing 5/8” backspacing at steering knuckle and 3/8” at upper control arm
12/12 update. Did some Ranger testing. It looks to be the same assembly. Photos below of the ranger vs sasquatch internal - very similar control arm.
Now - @LEGEND gave us the clearance behind the tire. What we did not account for is the control arm protruding out when you have a much taller tire. After checking a Ranger outfitted with 30.5x10.6 tires (i looked up the exact tire) the clearance behind the tire was around 0.85" after sitcking my phone and thumb, it looks to be fairly accurate. HOWEVER, the control arm protrudes at the top and is almost align with the back of the tire. It probably protrudes 0.5-06". So if you were to go 33.0+ to a taller tire, youre starting to get close to that control arm. What did check out literally on the nose, is that all of my numbers imply the distance the front area below the control arm to the wheel mounting point is 8.85" (given Legend's 1.0" figure on the Bid Bend 10.4" wide tire). After backing into the ranger wheel and tire specs, with my 0.85" Ranger clearance dimension on took on-site today, guess what I got to? 8.80". So the assembly on the Ranger must be basically identical to that on the Bronco.
I probably lost you at this point, but, in summary -
Unless the control arm is fashioned differently on the Bronco, it seems like the max tire would be 275/70/R18. I said previously 33.7" would fit, but it seems like they may not. The constraint here is the upper control arm, not the crash bars. Anything above ~33.2, you would probably need a bigger offset. The crash arms do not become the constraint until you go up to 34.2" wide tires seem like the max with occasional rubbing on the crash bars during articulation (which could be fixed by modifying or removing).
With no modifications - 33.2x11.2 (275/70/R18) is the max in stock form.
Add more offset, and you could go into the low 34" range until crash bars need to be modified/removed.
Using my fingers for references, and holding a ruler up to different fingers to back into what a 33.25 x 11.1 tire would look like compared to the Ranger's 30..5 x 10.6, it looks like this (i outlined the existing wheel and moved it .30" to the left and up 1.375".
In theory, this all makes sense, since the Badlands is a 32.7x11.2, (also on a 55 offset) so a 33.2x11.1 is slightly pushing the limits on clearance over the BL tire. Anything more than that it starting to get awfully close to the control arm, especially if it has a straight/aggressive sidewall
OLD - 12/7 update from Legend: Here we go! Measurements taken with square and tape measure, free hand. I've been doing this stuff for most of my career, so I am generally pretty damn good, so measuring horizontally center spindle nut- front bar face=18-3/8" ...center spindle nut-rear bar face=18-7/8" front face to rear face=37-1/4". also measured heights above center spindle nut. just say for ease, each tube is 1-1/2'" square. At mid plane front tube is 8" above center, rear tube is 5" above center
Drawings below - This is of a 33.7" x 11.2" on a stock OBX. I am seeing 2.0" from rear crash bar. In a top down view in full turn, 13/16" clearance. For front crash bar, those dimensions are 1.5" and 3/8" respectively. However, note the front crash bar sits higher, so that clearance, when viewing the profile of the wheel, at a diagonal is 2". To be more specific on that - Youll see a red oval behind the wheel, that is in full turn. In the upper right, the distance from the red oval to higher front crash bar is 2" at a diagonal.
In top down view, i am seeing the tire clear the spindle by 9/16" (this is the one dimension that isnt as 'matter of fact').
Previous update - To skip all the hypothesizing and technicals go straight to page 6 where we confirmed clearance, backspace and offset on a Black Diamond
Every dimension here is from Ford or the tire manufacturer, I’m able to back into the rest given the track, overall width etc. Big focus here is the depth of the tire, not the width. The only number made up was the clearance behind the wheel but that’s just a baseline. And the wheel gap was also a baseline based on the second drawing I did a couple weeks ago (which actually checked out later when Ford said the Badlands lift was 10 mills less the Sasquatch = 0.4” per my estimation).

Looks like a 275/70/R18 is the money size tire for an OBX. And it’s 33.2” so almost half an inch bigger than 32.7” badlands but 0.4” narrower. I chose this tire to safely get to the same Sasquatch wheel gap and Sasquatch clearance behind wheel. Are all numbers exact, no? But it’s all RELEVANT. If the clearances match that on the Sasquatch that it means it’s totally safe.
I’m sure you could go even bigger, but this tire size seems to be best to match Ford factory clearances on the Sasquatch.
