Almost every structural part will have some sort of part or engineering number on it somewhere -- does this have any sort of markings whatsoever? is it just rubber coated on the bottom there, and stainless steel up top? I work on cars and haven't seen a part like this anywhere...

The top is cadmium plated mild steel, not stainless.

Thanks for checking, everyone. To clarify, the part isn’t attached to my tailgate; I just set it there to take a picture of it. It was rolling around in the back. It either rattled loose on some rough desert trails yesterday or my rotten door-slamming kids did it🤔
I hear something rolling around in the back of my bronco, but have not been able to find it yet. Now I know what to look for!

I know one person who knows, but won’t give us the answer…

@Ford Motor Company - Prove me wrong!
Guaranteed the intern running that account has no idea what that part is. Besides, they're to busy ignoring ADM threads to respond here.

Be glad this didn't land in your engine. Could this explain those engine failures?

Do the bronco builders just toss in some spare parts when assembling? Like here ya go, might need that later.

Looks like a roller from one of the pieces of factory production equipment that fell off and into your Bronco. Probably had a c-clip to secure it in the center grove and came loose.
That is a hardtop seam roller that went missing after the first dozen MIC 1.0 were produced and just now discovered it was missing. Please return it to us so we can commence with MIC 3.0

Or the new stubby antenna option

They left some kind of cable lock (I think) in the back of mine that I picked up last week:

I also had a bag with carpet floor mats, which I thought was strange for a Badlands 🤷

BL comes from the factory with carpet mats. Rubber mats have to be ordered and have the option to include the carpet mats as well. Oddly, they are both the same price.

No idea what the cable is. Probably something unimportant like a brake cable.

Thanks, I'll likely go free from any additional mats year long. I mean, it's kind of a built in WeatherTech already, no?
