Finally got some old school safari style roof lights mounted

Not sure I love the position the mount puts them at, but there are not currently many on the market so I’ll take what I can get. Anything to avoid the dreaded led light bars.

Just got her up to 40mph - its a struggle to go faster right now with the snow storm... everyone is crawling.. there seems to be some sort of sound caused by the bar.... though I would not call it a whistle more like a groan.

If its awful on the highway, I will uninstall and wait until I get a hard top

Alrighty, just had a 1.5hr trip on the highway.
75mph avg speed.

No whistling - but def wind noise. Lots of people won't like it, however, I imagine with a hard top it would be much better, as much of the noise was being cause by the lights creating choppy air which vibrated the front of the softop more than normal

Good catch - I was too excited to get them mounted and once I was done my girlfriend pointed out the very same thing. She made it out, but I kid you not the space between me hitting the ceiling and not was about 0.25"

Yes, I have a hardtop and I did a sound test with mine compared to my friends base model soft top and there is not much difference between the noise decibels.
