Apologies if this info is somewhere in another thread. I didn't see it but probably should have had the wife look since she'll find stuff I can't when it's right in front of me. Anyway, I will be taking delivery of my long-awaited Bronco in less than a month and would like to have a spare key fob or 2. I see where you have options as to where to get them but if I understand correctly, they have to be programed by a professional. I have been able to program other key fobs myself as long as I have the original 2 key fobs. Is this not the case with the newer ones? Anyone have real life experience with getting additional fobs and what the approximate cost is? I'm just looking for the fobs themselves to enter and drive the truck, don't really care about the key itself. Thanks for any info.

Because if one of those two are lost or destroyed then you don’t have a quorum to program a new one. Then you have to pay mucho extra for special programming to get a new replacement key activated.

Plus I’m with the OP - more Is better.

I agree that having an extra (3rd one) makes sense. Especially if you "misplace" things. I will look into this

Buy a Kia and leave your keyfob on the Moon and use your phone as the key. Why only foreign companies offer the obvious

(I "invented" this idea a dozen years ago and failed to seek a patent. Just like my idea of a bedside clock radio phone that calls you and plays a recording to wake you up. Bought one a year after I thought of it)

Ford has this also. Just not for the Bronco unfortunately. Should be offered on all their vehicles IMO

I have a 2nd key fob story.
Back in 2021 when we took delivery of my wife's Mach-E, there was only one key fob? We questioned the dealer and he said confidently, oh well, you only get one.
We could order a 2nd one as a spare, so we did. There was going to be the cost of the programmable fob and the programming. We said ok.
Couple months later we got a call to bring in our Mach-E so the could program the 2nd fob.
After waiting about 2 hours they said it was done and presented us with the BILL!
$653 dollars, huh Wait wha?? Ok we paid it and left disgruntled and disallusioned.
Then about 3 months ago we got a letter from Ford saying hey we're sorry, but some of our models back in 2021 went out with only one key fob! The letter also said we could get the 2nd fob at no cost to us OR we could get reimburesed if we had gone ahead and purchased a 2nd fob. All we had to do was to present the paid invoice to the dealer and we would get our money back.
WOW this was great, so we did it but it had to go thru Ford after giving the dealer the paper work. I was skepticle like we were gonna get the full $653 bucks back from Ford? For a Key Fob?
Well this week Ford came thru and we cashed the check gleefully.
I hope you enjoyed this good feeling happy ending story!!

First thing I do on any new Ford I buy is to get an additional keyfob and program it. I put the extra one into service and put one of the originals in my safe in case one gets lost or ruined. It took a few tries to get the programming to take on the Bronco, but it did work. I also purchased two of the 2019 F-150 transponder keys and had them cut for the glove box and center console. I got my key number from the Ford dealer and my buddy at a Chevy dealer cut all three metal keys for me.
