New X-Rack Fishing Rod Holder modification for Rockslide Engineering EZ-Rack and Rotopax mounts

Exciting News! Our locking 2 Rod Holder is now compatible with the Rockslide Engineering EZ Rack spare tire bracket and similar! Simply attach our rod holder to the same hole pattern as Rotopax containers. These rod holders will also work with most other tailgate Rotopax container mount plates, like the add on mounts to tailgate reinforcement plates.

The rod holders come with a lock bar for securing rods with a padlock. Stay tuned for upcoming options, including a locking security cable (even if strap is cut they can't be removed) and an expansion bracket for adding up to 4 items to the carrier. (see photos). Nice product, only concern is what my vehicle clearance would be with a 10ft+ surf rod. Standing straight up seems to be a disadvantage for transport. My current rod holder mounts at the trail sights and is angled over the Bronco.

nice the only problem is doesn’t work well with tire covers that anyone in high sun areas should use, as the sun kills rubber.

i really wish someone would start including options that would work with tire covers, or make them with included tire covers.

We do have Rod holders that mount on the front trail sights, and a cargo rack that goes over the spare tire where you can put cargo and Rotopax containers. and keep tire cover on.

@X-Rack Any plans to make a 6 or 7 rod holder option that would go across the back of entire spare? The pair on each side is great, but a rack across the entire spare would be exactly what I am looking for. Often my brother and I are fishing with 3 rods each at the OBX.

Not sure I would trust my $1k+ of rods and reels on a nylon strap at highway speed. Think a roof rack and Yakama ReelDeal rod holders are the way to go. Have that setup on my wifes new 24 Kona

The big issue with rod holders off of the spare tire is that you pretty much are limited to going to the beach with them. Any hope of going into a off the beaten path lake or river is that you will arrive with considerably shorter rods than when you started out with.
The sight rod holders keep your rods angled and less likely to snap off on tree limbs or branches.

True, but that's why they make both. What I'm really interested in is trail sight mounts for fly rods. I hate having to break them down every time we change spots.
