I asked around off the cuff in different threads but still trying to figure this out.

swap stock OBX duelers (41 lb 32.1x10.2) to 275/70r18 (33.2x11.1). They only come in E. Unfortunately. The best tire I’m seeing for comfort etc given I’m in E load land, without exceeding 60 lbs, are the Cooper AT3 XLT at 57 lbs.

I plan on getting the higher gearing. But how concerned should I be adding 16 lbs of weight per wheel. Big impact on MPG, or just handling? I heard since it’s sprung weight i times it by 6, that’s 400 lbs of static weight. Making a 5000 lb truck feel like a 5400 sounds, doesn’t sound great. Then again, the BL 33” tires are C rated and 50 lbs so that plus lift and maybe the ride quality of my OBX is about the same as a stock BL? Possibly better with softer suspension.

Am I over thinking this...since just about every other guy here is planning on going from a stock P rated tire to an LT

Adding that much unsprung weight will be noticable. Going with higher gearing will make it worse. I would go with lower/shorter gearing for sure.

I don’t have a technical answer, but I feel like you’re overthinking it. It’s the B6G way, so you’re not alone. ? Hope you find your answer.

To avoid confusion, I meant upgrading from 3.73 to 4.27.

Well here’s where I’m really overthinking this. Im in between a badlands...And I’m trying to figure out how to build up an OBX for what could be a GVWR concern on the Badlands, but am I just putting myself back to the same place. I don’t know. I need to utilize the rack / cargo box and need to run around 1,000 lb payload every few months for road trips etc.

So while Ford is letting me option an OBX 2.7 lux with a roof rack, sound deadening, front steel bumpers etc etc, I think I’m in a safer place weight wise (no rear steel bumper, no heavier axles etc). But then I’m turning around and slapping on 57 lb tires to the OBX (badlands are 50 lbs). So how much am I really helping myself here. No idea...

.the only thing that makes me feel better about this is the badland overland concept - 2.3l manual, no lift, but with very heavy 35 in tires and a tent. So figure I gotta be slightly less than that. Although who the hell knows, since that was a sample preproduction build

It isn't a huge deal. If you really track those things then just remember that you have 64' less available for cargo.

It's a non-issue and you're over-thinking it. Please rest your mind and spend your time on something else.

You can get a Firestone Destination A/T2 in a P265/70R18 that's 32.6" and 40lbs.

The General Grabber APT is available in a P275/70R18 that's 33.2" and 42lbs.

So does that mean you will never have 4 adult men passengers ride in your Bronco? At an average of 200 lbs per man added to the wheel weight, I guess no car pooling or ride to the game.

Way over thinking it, step away from the computer.

I'd recommend sticking with a load range C tire. Ride will be better, airing down will be more effective, and less chance of popping a bead.
