Rendering out metalics in simulated daylight is actually not so easy. You have to tweak a lot of settings and angles to get it just right. And in this case, they are using an HDRI (image turned into a sphere) to give the reflections. It can also be used as the light source so if you have a sun in your image it would use it for the directional lighting. Probably more information than you care to read.

The hell are active grille shutters?

They close off at higher speeds to reduce wind resistance when there’s still enough airflow to cool the engine.
Open at low speeds and higher engine/cooling demands.

I'd guess yes - I think if it weren't to do that, they'd have likely just gone with a generic gray color that could be used on all models.

Yes. Looks like the bronco lettering is cut out of the trim piece and exposes the paint underneath

I thought that at first too, but I don't think so - the color in there doesn't have the same shine to it as it would if it were the body panel. This looks to be part of the plastic and painted a plastic color like the body color.

If you look at the end of the "Tailgate" has a taper... I wonder if it slides all the way out like a ramp of sorts.

Yeah it looks like it has slid out from beneath there...or possibly is hinged beneath and stands up. Great solution it looks to be.
