They had already decided to spend the time and dollars to integrate a manual transmission offering, why not simply engineer it so that one transmission could serve both motor offerings?
Because the engines don't share a bellhousing pattern, so they'd need two different castings for the case. They already had a versions of the 10 speed that would work with the 2.7 (F-150) and 2.3 (Ranger).

I'm in the same boat... 50+ Crowd & I'll have this vehicle for the rest of my life.

As I've said in other post..... I've settled for the greater good & others benefit all too often and too may time before. Now that I'm older, I'm not going to settle nearly as often, as it's time for me to put Myself As The Priority in My Life......
Right, so are you not getting a Bronco if they don't offer a 2.7?

And? Isn’t that part of the point of the HALO models is to flex? Gt500 and gt350?
And I bet their market research was a bunch of college aged kids who drive a Prius and have never seen a stick. And will never buy a Bronco that isn’t full electric anyways. I’m hurt by this decision.
Sure if you have unltd money

I was super pissed at first but the swap options will be vast and immediate.

An LS with tremec 6 speed will no doubt drop right in. They are tiny V8's. Im OK to buy one and chop it up.

This is the best platform I have seen offered in a long time. I have not been this stoked on a vehicle in 10 years. I really do not care the cost to build one up but they can take the 2.3 and stuff it lol.

Umm, let us know how that works out. My guess is your problem isn't going to be mechanical, but computer / software related.

Since I had a SAAB 2.3T AERO Wagon, I am not really concerned with ONLY having a 2.3L Turbo. It will be a blast. The SAAB was a 4K pound car and it was fast, esp from 30-70 MPH. I blew almost everything away. Best car I ever owned so far. Unfortunately, someone decided to play bumper cars with me and totaled it. I ended up getting more than I paid for it in compensation.

EDIT: I have to say that my 94 Cobra and 05 Mariner have both been FANTASTIC cars

I don't think the take rate for manuals would be much higher if they were offered in all trims of all vehicles. I say this because I have come to the realization that the vast majority of people only see cars as a means to get from point to point. They don't drive for the fun of it. They drive because they have to and want it to be as easy as possible. That's the only reason I can see that the Camry has been the best selling vehicle so many times.

I have seen a couple of comments in the MSM about actresses / actors wanted to buy the Bronco I doubt any of them would get a manual. They just want a vehicle like the range rover.

The fact that there are rarely manuals left at the end of the sales season suggest you're wrong.

What I'm really curious about is how the numbers would shift if everyone ordered what they wanted rather than what the dealers decided the customers want.

Well back in the day weren't manuals available in almost everything and they still lagged enough that companies found that they weren't selling enough of them? I can't imagine they would limit the option if they were selling a lot of them.

And on the wrangler enthusiast are the ones who buy the stick, and enthusiasts are the ones who make it appeal to a wider audience.
This is actually an excellent comparison, because you can only get a stick on a Wrangler with the base engine. Change to the turbo 4 or the diesel, you're stuck with an 8-speed auto.

No, in fact the addition of the automatic is what opened up the market to people of the land, the common clay of the new West.

Prior to the hydromatic, only people who could drive a manual could drive at all. As dealerships gained the power as the middle man in the transaction, they drove options based on what they could most easily grift poor saps-er, 'customers' who had the misfortune to wander onto their hunting grounds into. Since having the car automagically do the hard stuff for them increases the number of potential chumps, that's what they bought.

It's only been the last few years where they didn't have to work to gloss over all the horrible failings of the lump of crap attached to the PRNDL and focus heavily on the rich Corinthian leather and undercoatings.

Wow. You are going way way back. I was thinking 70's and 80's as back in the day not the 30's and 40's.
