Can anyone tell me where the APIM SYNC is located in my 2023 Bronco equipped with SYNC3?

I upgraded the base stereo and would now like to be able to use the USB port for music without parking first or registering my Bronco in a foreign country. To which end I bought a CANOPENER on flea-bay. But all the seller tells me is, "The APIM SYNC is located behind the screen."

The only DIY videos I can find online are for F150's, where it is indeed located behind the screen. However, the screen in the F150's appears to be a stand alone screen not directly attached to the main unit as it is in my Bronco. Some people say the APIM SYNC is located behind the glove box, others say it's in the center console.

I've had the Bronco dash apart before, and it was mostly a painful experience. It'd be nice to know the general location before I go foraging in parts unknown.

Thanks

It's directly behind the screen, and you will have to take apart most of the dash to access it.

Also the Bronco has SYNC4, not SYNC3. Just in case that matters.

Thanks for the response. It does matter. I really should know more about my Bronco than I do.

It has the small 8" screen. At least I think that's what it is. It certainly doesn't have the 12 inch, which is what I thought was Sync 4 - the Sync 3 being the software installed with the small screen. I really am sadly uniformed. All I know is, I told them I wanted a base model 2 Dr Bronco with the Sasquatch package. And that's what they sold me.

I dread pulling the dash apart again. But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. At least now I know I'm looking in the right place.

Thanks again.

I applaud your dedication. If the connector was in a more accessible location we would actually offer these, and I would do it to our Broncos.

Funny how it actually makes it less safe since you have to input stuff on your phone vs the screen. Land Rover apparently doesn't care though. They let you input it in motion and on the screen.

Maybe Ford could just put a warning and have you confirm that you are the passenger inputting info.

Make sure the wiring harness connections are FULLY seated. You can close the leaver on the harness connector and think it's fully seated only to find that it isn't after you've put the dash back together. 🤦‍♂️
I had to push the connectors together and then engage the leaver. I found that just the leaver alone left a fraction of an inch gap but enough that the connections didn't fully engage.
It was my fault for not testing everything before I put the dash back together, but yeah it sucks tearing everything apart again after you just put it back together.
