So, in my 2-door bronco I used to have the RAM seat mount for my Garmin Tread. I like having the Garmin Tread Overland for full off-line maps that don't require my phone, and the inReach SOS function (again that doesn't require my phone). That setup was rock solid - but infringed on the passenger's leg room a little and fully obstructed their view of HVAC controls and a bunch of the infotainment screen.

So - I got some hardware from ACE and mounted a 1.5" ball to the handle on the driver's side. I used .4" by 1/2" OD spacers so the mount was solid and not on the rubber portion of the handle.

Then a medium connector, dog bone 1.5" to 1.5" ball and then a small connector, then the Garmin mount.

It doesn't touch the glass, and only makes the A pillars a little worse. Full visibility to the mirror and I can see pretty much the whole hood. I'm happy where this ended up for now.

That’s a nice install. I have a Lowrance of about the same size that i had hanging from the ceiling by the rearview mirror and found that it obscured too much of my right side outward vision. I doubt this has the same issue on the driver’s side, as you can easily see over it.

Just ordered the XL and looking for a mounting solution. Are you using the same bolts that you removed from the top or did you need longer? Also how is this holding up?

The bolts are M6x1.00 and I needed an extra half an inch. So I bought 2 of this exact spec

M6x1.00 x 45mm

Holding up great. Nice and sturdy. The XL might have a little different dimensions and weight but I am not pushing clearances with the regular tread.

When I was looking at these (never did buy one) I was thinking about a suction mount to the dash above the glove box and letting the navigator use it.

The included mount is high quality for sure. It just killed a bit too much of the visibility for mean with our short windshields. But it’s all trial and error IMO

Gotta ask, what radio are you running? I see the Midland logo... Heard good things about them. Would love to have a similar setup.

I've got both the XL (coming today) and the 8" Tread Overland (coming tomorrow). Not sure which one will be a better fit. Thank god for 30-day free return :)

I have mine mounted on an after-market center grab bar. I was worried about putting something in the way of the A pillar air bag.

Decided I like the 10" and cancelled the smaller 8". I've been looking for something that I could attach to the grab bar. Mind sharing?

The grab bar is Archetype Racing. If you know about them, they went out of business. Took FOREVER to get stuff from them.

I like the style of that and have seen at least one other the only reason for not getting it was I could find out the ball size. I have found a cup holder that will take a 1" ball and have that on order. A 20mm ball "might" work but the 1" holds more weight since I'll be attaching the Tread Overland XL which came today and am very impressed with the overall screen.

The Tread isn’t all that heavy. I think I have a 1” ball on the handle. It sits there pretty solid. Been to Moab with that setup with zero problems.
