I have been trying to get around to installing my Garmin Dash Cam #57.
After researching posts on how or what is the best option for supplying power to the camera, I went with the Dongar Technologies route. https://dongar.tech/products/16pin-ford-f150

I chose to select a better fitting power cable than the ones provided in the packaging and went with the ideal length USB to micro-usb cord with right-angle connector.

I velcro’d the usb receiver end of the plug to the back of the rearview mirror to secure it. I will probably put some heat shrink on it to clean up the appearance a little better.

These work great. Was a little tricky wiggling the ford connector out at first, but the adapter makes powering dash cams a breeze.

Yes, I agree. Once everything is unplugged, it’s a piece of cake to finish up.

I went with the Garmin Mini 2 and mounted it just to the left of the mirror using Electrostatic Film. The only thing I see is the activation light.

Nice setup. I really liked using the Garmin dash cams (mini2) in my prior vehicle but in my Bronco the Garmin drive app and carplay fight each other making viewing image captures an ordeal. Do you have issues between the drive app and carplay as well?

I don’t use car play, so I haven’t had any issues.

I had this issue as well. You can get it to work by plugging your phone into the Bronco then it will connect to CarPlay through the wire and the dash cam will connect wirelessly.

I don't have that issue with my Mini 2 and CarPlay.

Thank you for the tip, I gotta get this. Definitely a lot easier than removing the SD card to insert it in my phone whenever I need it

Did you consider mounting it to the passenger side plastic housing instead of on the windshiled? I would just like to keep the windshield as unc;luttered as possible.

No sir. Because when the windshield ever cracks - as they are easily prone to damage; then I can simply adhere another magnetic disc to the new windshield .
It’s easier for me to keep it right where it is and it’s out of view of any of the forward-facing vehicle’s sensors.
It’s been like this in the last three vehicles I’ve owned.

I hear you, my windshield has been cracked for at least 10 months now. Luckily it hasn't spread for a while so I'm just sitting tight before I replace it.
