The @SierraBronco 1/2 portal rig is an easy DIY job. Check it out. All you need to do is be able to count to at least 2… oh. And remember front or rear… never mind. I guess that is getting complicated..

Very cool effort he, and mostly wife, are tackling.

After some quick research seems like new suspension is out of my skill set. I may just go with tire upgrades and go from there.

I just put powerstop pads on a couple other vehicles, mainly for low dust but they also stop really nice.

Has anyone put powerstop on their Bronco yet and compared stopping distance to stock pads? The rotors can’t be seen through my wheels so the looks don’t matter, and stock pads aren’t dusty, but if Powerstop makes a big improvement I’d switch them out.
After having my new power stops on for a few days I can tell you they are excellent. Very soooth and like glass when braking. Definitely more bite than oems

A coilover swap is not that hard if you know what to watch out for. But yeah, the stuff @SierraBronco is tackling is bad ass.

Coil overs are doable by a single person under a shade tree, but they do take a bit more muscling than brake pads, particularly in the front.

If you don’t already have them - skid plates and sliders or steps are a good next project if you plan on doing any off roading. Upgrading bumpers and/or adding lights are popular and about the same skill level as brake pads/rotors. Some fun interior things you could do as well.

Ssssoooooo… no easy way to say this… but I was talking about all the stuff your wife is doing…. 😳
She’s doing a good job. Just finished building her bump stop mounts today.

Get a good quality stubby cordless impact wrench (to remove the inner nuts on the LCA's) and you can do the coilovers with a jack and some jackstands. I popped my left shoulder in Feb last year and still did the coilover install myself (I didn't do UCA's since I wanted to see if they could align it first and they did). I went from base Sas on 37's with stock suspension to 37's on ProComp adjustable coilovers (around 2" up front and 1" in the rear).

Nice job, I am planning to do the z36 kit, have been getting tools ready. I have read that the caliper anchor bolts are 1 time use, did you replace them? Also would be good to hear how long it took you.
Did you use 3 or 6 ton floor jacks?

For proof haha

I reused caliper anchor bolts. Not sure if that’s best practice or not but it’s been working for me. So because this was my first brake / rotor job and also a first for many other prep items this took me a solid 8 hours. Keep in mind, that included a few beer breaks and profanity laced walk aways. I used 3 ton floor jacks but I realized mine were not high enough in some cases unless i used specific jack points.

I installed mine, I had a buddy help me and it took 8 hours as well so you did something right :) Had a hard time with the clips and angle to get the pads in on the front, by the time we got to the back it was easier. I will say I did get my Ford Parts department to print out the procedure and did confirm Ford discards the bolts, I ended up getting 8 new ones because it was my first time doing brakes and well I figured why not. It didn’t seem to me that the old ones were throw aways, but that is what the guide said. I had some 6 tons so I used them because they were taller.

Overall it’s such a great setup, the rotors and pads, and a night and day difference for me with larger tires that gave me an extra 17lbs per wheel. So far I love it.
