Wanted to share my progress with trying to mount a hi-lift jack using TOR tail gate reinforcement. I initially wanted to purchase the RTR tailgate reinforcement, but preferred the turn-offroad's reinforcement. Only thing missing from their solution was a similar hi-lift jack mount, which I really liked (mounting horizontally)

So my quest to make a mount with TOR tailgate began. I had no use for their 3rd brake light mounts, as I opted for a spare wheel light instead, I started to figure out ways to use these mounts. First I wanted to use carriage bolts so I had to drill/cut some square holes, second I needed to measure the jack to ensure the bolts aligned. Here is what I ended up with, (feel free to make fun of my cutting abilities)

After this, it became a matter of making sure the jack cleared the body and wheel, which took longer than expected due to having to undo everything each time, but at the end it came out easier overall. This is the carriage bolts locked down (the need to cut the square in the third brake light mounts). Also, in order to make this clear the tail gate and the wheel, you will notice the brackets are mounted backwards (the weld nuts on the inside). I found that this gave me the best clearance between the wheel and the body, while letting the jack rest on the mounts.

You might be thinking, well if the wing nuts are towards the wheel, how am I going to reach them with the spare on. This is why im calling this work-in-progress, because yes, in order to get the jack, I will have to remove the spare. My plan is to reverse the carriage bolts and wing nuts, but I need some type of square washer with a square hole, which im still looking for or perhaps try to make them. Another option is to use a larger carriage bolt that fits in the jack holes and prevents spinning. Either way, this is my progress, here are some more pictures, and let me know what ya'll think

Other things to note
- I removed the jack base as it was too close to the body and simply closing the tail-gate would risk it hitting
- The jack rattles like a bitch when closing the tail-gate (not unexpected)
- I adjusted the wheel holder so that the wheel rests ever so slightly against the jack (attempt to remove rattles)
- The jack I have is 42inch
- I attempted a different orientation with the wing nuts towards the body, but the full weight of the jack was on the carriage bolts and didn't feel as secure

Nice. I’ve been trying to figure out where to mount one also. I used to make fun of my friends who had high lift jacks and never used them, I compared it to a snorkel, but then I needed one and they came to my rescue when I broke on the side of a mountain in Colorado.

I am considering mounting across the top at the rear of the cargo basket.
I am also considering installing a lock on it as well.

I must admit, I’m digging this. Nice work. I recently deleted the 3rd brake light so the tire could be pushed all the way in and snugged up against the TOR tire carrier. Not sure I have enough clearance to consider this but it’s a great idea.

Here is a wicked old thread that includes a few tricks for addressing some of the rattles.

I should of updated this a while ago, I did reverse the wing nut and carriage bolt, and luckily the carriage bolts fit the Hi-Lift jack holes nicely to allow the wing nut to tighten easily. Here's what it looks like now

Thats cool.

How many lift points do you have for it on your Bronco? Front and rear lift capable bumpers and frame mounted sliders?

front and rear bumpers have d rings, sliders do have holes under it that may work but never tried, I consider the jack a last resort if winch fails

The Bronco doesn't have good lift points for a hi-lift. The D rings are rated for pulling, not lifting. But... there is this.

https://hi-lift.com/accessories/lift-mate/

Which would be perfect if you're buried up to your frame in sand or for some other reason can't get under your Bronco with a hydraulic jack.

I've been thinking about one of these instead of a hi-lift.

This just popped up on my YouTube! Thought you guys might be interested I will definitely be getting one!

Nice work. I did a similar mount on the spare tire mount of my old BIIs

Love getting old, I stumbled on this thread and was enjoying it when I saw my 'likes' and realized it was de ja vu all over again.

The other thing about getting old is my adventures have calmed down, and although I carry a Handyman Jack (I'm that old) and lift mate I haven't used it yet. I even bought a new , shorter, one, to fit my mounting location. I have the same bumpers as you.

nice! I've considered moving the jack to that location, what did you use to mount it? something custom or did you find something that works with the bumper?

I like your set up, more subtle, mine looks kinda poser especially with a new jack, but I'll keep it because yours looks too hard to construct, but you already got it!

I used Amazon rollbar mounts, attached to the light mount on the bull bar with 5/16" bolts and nuts

Note: I did go to a 42" jack to avoid blocking lights, I used a 48 for a while but it kinda gets into lights
