Total number of potentially involved: 16,200
Estimated percentage with defect: 5%

Appears to be for all affected MIC hardtop panels, not just the clamshell.
Also appears to be an inspection followed by replacement based on inspection.

Sounds like the same problem, but I have no idea. What I posted is all the information available right now.

If I had to guess, I'd say this isn't the typical "small hairline cracks" around the windows though. I'd be surprised if that was ever a recall since it isn't safety related, but we will see.
I think Ford is more worried about large areas of delamination causing big chunks to fly off.

Everyone has seen the cracks and honecomb but has anyone heard of the outer layer flying off? I see weekly photos in the Facebook Bronco group of the same old issues but never pieces flying off. Must have happened to a few people. Either way this is good news I suppose for owners with issues.

It says "panel" and doesn't say if it refers to the rear cap as well! This would be a PITA if I wanted to sell or trade my 2021, but I have no issues and am keeping it. With the Skyrider softtop installed, the panel is off the vehicle anyway. I did get the letter.

Yeah I don't know which panel they're referring to, but panel could mean the clamshell by itself also.

The recall says “due to environmental exposure”. My guess is they are flagging this for all the vehicles / time period for Dirt Mountain. Mine is a 2022 but outside of the build date range, so don’t think I’ll be getting the recall.

I think it's more than dirt mountain, but definitely probably covers all of those. Early 22MY was never involved in that.

Also just remember, the build dates listed on the recalls are never accurate for some odd reason.
Broncos weren't produced until May of 2021, even though the recall says from 9/2020.

Yeah, I noticed that "environmental" clause too, and I'm not surprised.
While I do not have the MIC top, I have seen many photos of the cracking issue in this forum. To me, it looked like many of those bigger cracks could allow water to get inside of the "honeycomb" material. In my part of the country, the freezing temperatures would expand and accelerate the cracking. The possibility of a large de laminated segment flying off at highway speeds seems very real. So as @Ducati1098 pointed out, the issue becomes safety rather than cosmetic.

Next question…..if you do get the recall but already had your hardtop replaced under warranty do you now get another one? The recall doesn’t say which panels, and myself and most people that have already had replaced under warranty likely just had the rear shell replaced and not any of the 3 removable panels.

Yes there’s been a couple posts on here that I’ve seen of people tops literally peeling apart. Pretty sure one guy had it fly off while he was driving

We’ll have to wait and see what the remedy is once it’s available. Pretty sure, could be wrong, the NHTSA makes manufactures put out info early to inform everyone about it that owns one

Before I retired, some of my clients had problems getting proper dates posted on their public notices. The source of their problem was typically poor internal understanding between component dates and the final packaging date. I wonder if that's what might be happening at Ford.
