what were some of the other issues? Leaks?
Oh yeah, and the plastic arms that moved the little moon roof broke repeatedly. The drains for the moon roof ran down each A pillar and if they got clogged with pollen, water would leak out of the grab handles and if it rained really hard your floor board would be flooded.

I had mine in the shop twice, and spent $2,000 between the two trips to still end up with a broken leaking POS.

I want to find a sun roof installer that will just put a solid piece of glass up there and call it a day, but no luck yet.

Well, I guess my March 2022 build is SOL. Top has cracks all over and the front panels are honeycombed.

Like @PowerBronco stated, it would be hard to believe this recall does not get expanded. I'm kind of amazed they did it at all because it's going to open a potential flood gate of claims and maybe lawsuits. They better have a damn good solution!

Hang in there and see what the details of this initial recall are and then make a call on what to do with your top. I'm wondering if they might at least partially cover replacements since some seem to have gotten reimbursed some amount for aftermarket shocks in the Bilstein reservoir recall debacle.

I have a July '21 build that hit dirt mountain, deliver 11=26-21. Sticker in MIC say 'primer allied October xx 2021. One color mismatched panel, very slight snakeskin, no cracks, no delamination and mostly garaged. I'll bet recall ends up being an inspection with pretty restrictive replacement rules for blatant separation issues. That said, since it's a safety recall if delamination occurred anytime in the future they would fix it.

I'm in the minority, but I like my MIC, the color/texture is a perfect compliment to A51. If they offered me a MIC or MOD (prefer Carbonized Gray please) I'd take it though.

i have a 2024 and the removable panels are honey combed, also had the clam shell replaced last year but thats holding up pretty good so far
So, I have lots of honeycombing, but no apparent cracks. I take it this is neither good nor bad, necessarily?

Maybe in the future. But considering it’s a safety recall, if they had any reason to expand it right now, they already would’ve.

Claims will probably be pretty low, depending on the repair, if they’re only replacing those bad enough to cause a safety hazard. Those are very few and far between I’m guessing.

When they put a "safety" label on it, it gets a little hairy. Clearly a lot of these tops have problems. If there is a legit safety hazard and one comes apart causing injury that was a top either outside the recall (but exhibiting similar issues) or one that was under recall but denied replacement, then you may end up with a new majority stock holder at FoMoCo.

It may be as bad the Ford engineer stating in court that the stability index of the Bronco II was knowingly horrendous. They lost a lot of cases once that went on record. Once they say any number of these tops are in some way defective, it turns the ownness back on Ford. They either do not know how to fix the problems, the problem fix is atrociously expensive, or they don't know what's causing the problem. They do seem to be fielding suspect tops year after year. Any of those three scenarios would not result in a favorable court decision.

I believe this will be expanded. There are much newer models having this issue as well.

4th replacement? Sounds like more of an issue with you/where you live/how you treat your Bronco than an issue with Ford. My 2023 top still looks brand new:

- Parked in garage (not outside)
- Self wash only (never auto wash or touch wash)
- Avoid long stints in the blazing sun

Zero cracks, zero issues.
So far (knock on wood) no issues with my 2023 top here as well but...
parked outside in Arizona sun in a part of the state that also sees below zero temps in winter.

2023 MIC top- currently on my third top (rear shell) and that has now cracked in less than months. Ford is now claiming there is no warranty on the replacement top. They have offered to pay for 2/3 of a new rear shell, but why would I want to throw more money at their problem??

This is a daily and is not garaged, but only hand washed and in the mid south (VA/TN). Environmental factors should have been considered in the design and I shouldn't have to keep a car in a garage to expect it to last.

My '21 2-door leaked from the A pillars since I had it. Took a few tries, but they finally fixed it last year. The 2nd 'fix' was replacing the two panels. Will be interesting to see what this all involves. Ford should be ashamed of this junk MIC top they gave us.

Is the "painted" top option now available a different material or will those be susceptible to the same issues?

Painted top doesn’t have anything to do with this recall. Completely different construction.

Go walk your local dealer lots, honeycomb is the new carbon fiber. I didn't see one factory too that didn't have abundant honeycomb (panel-wide on front and middle) and at least some on the back.
