I've never really thought about how mud gets on the front of the rear fender flare. Is this what you're talking about, OP? I don't think it's coming from the rear wheel. I think it's being thrown from the front tire past the steps. I had that day one (and the stains still) because I don't have steps to get in the way. I even scraped it off a few times with a plastic paint scraper. Not sure how you could really stop that.

There is a thread with someone who made front tire flaps I recall. Try a search.
I think it was for a 2 door model was getting their slacks dirty.

Welcome to the Bronco and all the wild crazy stuff that this vehicle can offer. So yes you can modify anything to fix a issue that you are having, but the reality is with this type of vehicle you are gonna fling mud, stones, rain and just about everything else you can think of to some degree. Especially if you are running a aggressive off road tire. If you are really bothered by it, again get creative and modify away or just live with it and get used to washing it quite frequently. Good luck and post pictures of your solution.

Hi Guys (new Bronco owner)
I bought the IAG mud flaps for my front and rear tires and they are great! I contacted IAG to see if they had any for in front of the rear tires because the tires kick up a lot of crap onto the standard runnng boards etc. - IAG does not have any.

Anybody know who might have an off the shelf option vs. modifying standard mud flaps?

Thanks!
Since you asked nice, I'll be the one to help you seek what you are looking for. Credit goes to @Wildfire1 . He coined the term "Mid Flaps".

Awesome looking Bronco! I love the white tops, but it wasn't meant to be for me this time around. They're my favorites.

One other possibility that you might be able to employ is Raising the Steps. Ford has redesigned the steps to have a lip in the front/back to help mitigate the complaint that you raised. As you know there is still a gap between the flare and step. I did it on the earlier design without the lip. I have not seen the new step design in person to confirm if raising the steps is a possibility.

@Pony4x4 - we’ve had a few requests for this and I came up with some and put them on mine to test. We’re going to release them soon (maybe this weekend) if I can get some time on the laptop. A few pics of them on our “dirty” Badlands. These are front facing rear and use existing holes (no drilling). We’re a sponsor on 6G - Broflaps.com

So-called "Mid Flaps" are an actual thing. Weathertech sells a kit for the F150 but they install midway down the length of the running board.

If you have the oem rock guards. Couldn't you install these on the rear of the rock guard? Just a lazy thought. But for the op argument when your rear tire hits the mud or muddy pot holes with momentum it will push the mud or muddy water forward. Doesn't have anything to do with tire tread.

I'm rigging another set of mud flaps at the front of the rear tires. Thanks for all the tips - this is without a doubt the best vehicle message board I've ever encountered over various rigs I've owned over the years. First 4 x4 I owned was a 1972 Blazer. Wish I had that one back to either keep or sell at Barrett Jackson $$$ LOL. Had a couple of CJ's and several 4 Runners over the years.

Had that problem too...
In Dec of 21 not much worth buying was available in front mud flaps so made my own.
Then I made a nice set for the back so id stop coating my trailer in ice, snow and salt when winter camping on 1000Km trips.
Then one time I'm on a gravel back road near Collingwood and it sounded like someone was running a caitling gun on my running boards. Stone size was perfect for being sucked up by my 1/2 worn out OEM Wranglers so I made the pair shown in the pics.
All good now,,,
