Hi all, I have a 25' Big bend with stock tires. I wanted to swap my stock tire with 285/70R17 Falken wildpeak at4w. I was told by dealership that it will need a lift kit to avoid rubbing. Is it true? Any opinions/suggestions? TIA

285/70r17 is a 33" tire - stock size for a Badlands.

Now, a Badlands does have a small lift... like 1" - but for driving around town - No, you won't need a lift. I've seen up to 315/70r17 done without a lift. I doubt you would even need to pull the crash bars.

But you ~could~ get some minor rubbing if you go try to off road with it - which could be solved in many different ways - a lift is just one way to do so.

If you did, you look at a lift, or spacers, or trim the fender liners, or upgrade those Hitachi shocks, or whatever... then if and when you need it.

The Wildpeaks are nice tires - I have a set in that size on my F150.

I have 285/70/17 on a 2024 Big Bend with stock suspension and no issues. I do light off-roading, still have the crash bars installed, and have not run into clearance issues.

Have you seen any change in MPG with the 285’s?

I swapped the stock tires out almost immediately, so I never really had a baseline. I’m sure there was a decrease though.

I have a ‘21 Big Bend that had 285/70s on when I bought it; no lift. They were fine until I put new rims, with a -12 offset, on. Then I had to remove the crash bars from the wheel wells.
