Unfortunately there is no such thing as shortage of any oil ! It’s all a game. We all have experienced this for many many years. We are paying and supplying for all disagreements of those in charge! I own an auto repairs shop. The only thing that happened to me was higher charges for engine oils regardless of which brand. It’s a shame we all keep riding the wave ! It will drop around October …

People may be panick buying or they were just sold out. It's just a phase that will pass. I don't have to worry about it for another 6 months and I'm sure there won't be any supply issues then.

Funny enough, I just changed my oil today. This was the first time I've found both the mobil 1 AND FoMoCo oil filters in stock at Walmart. And, plenty of oil in stock, even managed to grab a 5 quart jug that matches the additional 1 quart bottle this time (usually I have to mismatch them).

FWIW I just buy 2 fives and pour out of the extra for five changes. Much cheaper

Found my Royal Purple 5W-30 just fine. Plenty as a matter of fact. Along with other weights and brands.

This goes for all auto repair shops. My suppliers raise it enough and that enough for me to raise the cost of oil per quart !

I always keep a few Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5qt jugs on hand for the Bronco, whole house generator, and other equipment. I have been having trouble finding Ultra Platinum, but Walmart had some nearby and had 5 delivered.

Sorry guys I’m part of the problem. My Walmart just restocked and most of their 5w30 was already gone, I bought my usual Penzoil Platium again. Ultra is getting hard to find. I got enough for 4 oil changes.

Even Valvoline Extended Protection is getting harder to find.

The point is only a handful of oils effected that I never new existed or cared about, however prices go up for everyone. You cannot hate the news enough. This is a manufactured shortage across the board.

Well much of the oil we import comes from Mexico, Venezuela, Alaska and it is sour so I don’t buy that we don’t have oil to refine. We do not bring in oil in any quantities that impact us from the Middle East. The US is in fact an oil exporter. There is no oil shortage in North America, only hype from market trader's driving up prices but no shortage.

soorrry for clarifying this - you forgot the neighbours to the North send a bunch o oil to Merica!

Well, not sure if it is a shortage as much as a rush. No one is talking about it and the O'Reilly guys were surprised they were out of the Motorcraft 5W30 SB and nothing else. They were not full stock, but that was the empty slots. I then ventured over across the road to Autozone, where they seem to have plenty of everything oil. So......it may be regional? I do believe it is a bit more of panic than supply at this point. I did get two 5 and 1 qt bottles to do the this and next change. Disclaimer-- I did not take all the MC 5W30 from my local Autozone. Lol

I was at 2 Walmarts and noticed the large 5 quart jugs of 5w 30 oil are flying off the shelfs! I had to buy the smaller 1 quart jugs because the large jugs were sold out and ended up costing me a bit more for my oil change.

Anyone experiencing this in their area? I heard on the news it’s getting worse in some areas and folks are panicking like buying up all the butt wipe during Corona.

I haven't noticed it, but yeah I remember seeing carts loaded to the brim with butt wipe during Covid, so stupid and selfish.
