Having a manual, I’d really like to see if there’s a way to link power off -> turning on parking brake automatically. Even if it maybe requires extra hardware like a micro controller?

Thoughts are appreciated, maybe I’m asking too much 🤣

Maybe, right after pressing the button to turn it off, you all of a sudden like reach down and pull the parking brake button as well?

Or... and this is definitely more advanced... do them at the same time?

I've got a whole pre-flight mental checklist - power on, auto start stop off, collision alert off, parking brake off, lights off, check mirrors... shift into drive and THEN go. Similarly at end of flight: shift to neutral, verify transfer case set to 2wd, set parking brake, shift into park, power off. Takes maybe 10-15 seconds to pre- and post-flight the Green Flash.

I used to have a 2022 Explorer ST and there was a recall because, I think, the u-joint could fail or fall off. And the concern was the vehicle could roll away without the driveshaft. Anyway, instead of Ford fixing the mechanical failure issue, the solution was to do a software change to have the parking brake automatically engage on engine off (which was annoying as anything). It was just a software change, so I’m betting they could do the same with the Bronco.

I’m positive you are correct, but until Ford either releases that software, or the register map definition, we poor humble users have to resort to reverse engineering and/or making wild guesses and hoping they don’t brick anything while testing

I swear it seems like mine does it automatically often; however, I could also be doing it by muscle memory.

Here's a silly question since we're alp exchanging silly questions:
  • Do you turn off your Bronco and not leave it in first gear?

No, it’s always parked in 1st or reverse depending on the incline. And yes, I like that it turns off when put in gear & clutch out. Just want the opposite to happen when its off 😂

Trust me, it’s all muscle memory at this point. I just like tinkering and seeing what I can and can’t do.

Yes, unlike my sports car and last 9 cars and trucks, 6G Broncos required learning a new and very odd muscle memory of reaching over the left knee, and underneath the light switch.
It's so much easier when the same hand for pushing the stick can find the switch at the center console -- or even better, if the "switch" is an actual brake lever!!

Agreed! First electronic e-brake and it’s throwing me for a loop sometimes. I almost wish it was a foot pedal like the Panther chassis 🤣

No, please. It's on my 23 Explorer and I can live with it, but not on my off road vehicle please.

If you open the door prior to turning it off, will it set the parking brake? I don’t have a manual, but I know the 10R will do something similar if you open the door still in gear IIRC
