Decided to go topless and doorless for the 4th. I put the doors back on and the drivers door is making three loud pops when opening and closing now. There doesn't seem to be an damage and everything looks fine when opening and closing. Has anyone else experienced this?

You did not tighten the door bolts sufficiently. It is supposed to make those sounds as an audible indicator the door bolts are not tightened properly. Tighten them up and the sound goes away.
Thanks so much!

Torque wrenches are extremely useful. Make the small investment.

Cool, but really? This is a intended safety feature?

It's a great investment also to learn how to be courteous to people that aren't asking for your advice.

Hmmm, I was responding to multiple folks here. IMHO, I wasn't being rude and I believe my advice was both relevant and helpful. If any such forum limited responses only to those explicitly asking for advice it would be a very boring place.

Awesome method to resurrect a 3 year old dead thread, lol.

That's why we do searches for info instead of posting a new thread. I didn't notice the date, but I learned why my door was popping, and I guess that I need to buy another tool. Surprising Ford doesn't include one in the toolkit they supply for this purpose.

You don't really need a special tool, the kit Ford provides does the trick just fine. Just use the rachet and tighten a bit at a time until the popping goes away.
