I’m thinking about switching from the factory hardtop to a soft top, and I probably won’t want to keep the hardtop afterward.

For those who have done this, what is the best way to handle the hardtop? Is it easy to sell locally, and what is a reasonable asking price? Are there any shipping or storage issues I should consider?

Thanks!

I recommend you DO NOT transition from a hard top to a soft top. You'd be pretending to be something you are not. Be strong and proud of what that hard top means. Your Bronc was born with a hard top and will always identify as a hard top.

And here I was gonna say, open a beer, set that hardy on fire where it belongs and rejoice that you're now a part of what was meant to be. Ignore G1D1UP....lol. It was NOT meant to be a hard top. Evidence 1: They have all mostly sucked from day 1. 2. RARELY do I see them removed, so sad. 3. You don't see a lot of complaints from soft top folks.

Store it somewhere safe and prepare to put it back on after the novelty of the soft top wears off in a couple of months due to noise, cold or the first few break-ins.

Depending on where you live the soft top is the better option IMO. In Kentucky where we get every season, you can take the top off almost all hear long besides late fall and winter.
Even in this past winter which was extremely cold over here I never felt like the heater couldn’t keep me warm!
Throw that hard top in the trash tbh.

i use soft top on hwy in -30 to +35 and its fine. Currently for the summer soft top is fully retracyed with Jtop mesh which hopefully is done VOC off gassing by mid to end sept:)

If I had the hard top I would coar with Euro rock guard and color match then cover the interior surface with sound deadening and upholstered resonix black absober or similar but only with it staged on a lift.

Here in Michigan, used Broncos with a hard top were commanding significant more money. Like $4k more when I was looking. It might be worth keeping if you ever go to sell it.

I tend to agree with not on the rug. I think it also depends on your driving. If you are on the expressway a lot, you might get tired of the noise of the soft top.

We have both. We put the hard top in the winter and the soft in the summer. With the hard top, I feel more comfortable going through automatic car washes which is a big thing for me.

Keep it somewhere safe. In 10 years may be worth a lot. Think oem top is available in pieces only feom ford parts. Like arpund $10000 in patts.

In 10 years the mic top is likely going to be spiderweb of crack's and delaminated trash.

I suggest to hold onto it for a year just in case the soft top is not working out.
Should be easy to sell locally when you’re ready.

Or you could leave at at my place as a donor replacement for my Everglades 😁
I’m conveniently located in Central Fl.

I'd hold onto it for a few months at least, then sell it. That's what I did with my 2012 Jeep. Keep it for around 6 months before I decided I wasn't ever going to put the hard top back on.

Different take from a Raptor owner running a MIC hardtop — I'm keeping mine. But in Texas summer the front panels come off and stay off from about May through September. Pulling those four side panels gives you most of the airflow you'd want anyway, and once you're moving at speed it's a completely different truck — especially in Baja mode with the windows down. The MIC does get absolutely cooking in direct sun when parked, so I try to get moving fast or find shade. Full top removal is maybe 15 minutes solo when I'm motivated for a trail day. If I had a soft top I'd probably use it on lazy weekday cruises, but for actual trail days the MIC goes back on for the dust and debris protection. My advice to OP: hang onto the top for at least a season before selling it. You might want it back for a wet fall run or a dusty desert trip and then you're hunting one down on the used market.

Yeah no. I swapped several years ago and have zero regrets. Thought I would swap back for the winter, never have.
