Muted washed out Costco fashion is mass market #1 ...Ford and others just following the consumer bad taste hahah. Red is a great color for looking clean al the time....I guess it's the brown, yellow and grey pigments.

In Soviet bloc one could choose from a similar color pallet avail from several eastern bloc brands, also Ford today LOL.

“ Tis lame” ……..but fear not, the Bronco brain trust at Ford will come up with some pathetic new trim concept.

The psychology is interesting. Some like a “hey, look at me” vehicle and others don’t. Why? Hard to say. Some folks like to start conversations with strangers, but I’m not one of those guys.

But — one of the really interesting parts of the Bronco design to me was how the exterior paint color shows up in the inside. For this reason I wanted a code orange, but it was discontinued when it was ordering time. :-/ Oh well. So I went the opposite direction, asking myself what color unifies the overall design the best, and makes all the plastic parts seem less obvious? I considered a Stroppe, but that color scheme, while sharp, was a deal-killer — for me. Too Evel Knevel. Dark gray is a better match to my personality.

These are typically 'dealer stock' trucks, ordered by dealers who just want trucks on their lots because someone will come by to buy it. They're the colors that don't come with a 'premium' price on them, so they'll order them up and have them delivered and try to shoehorn someone into one.

These kinds of lots (presuming this isn't at an assembly plant) highlight why white, black, and silver are the top-3 selling colors of vehicles - they're what get ordered by dealers for people who 'just need a vehicle.'

Yes, my Wagon was black because it was what they had on the lot and I wanted a new truck, and had an opportunity for a Power Wagon. My 2nd Ram was silver because I needed a truck and it was that or white, and I despise white on a vehicle. My dually I had years back was white over brown because it's what I could find in good shape that wasn't outrageously priced.

This is a GM lot. When I look at this I’m amazed anyone is still even making red!
My favorit car was my "Screaming Yellow" Ford Focus SVT. I got more complements and comments on that car than anything I've ever had, including my HPR Bronco. Too bad automakers have surrendered to the masses and offer just "50 shades of Gray"!

Maybe you highlight the real answer: for most buyers, color isn’t that important (beyond not hating it).

This is the psychology part I find interesting. I guess I’ve never been someone who cares about comments or complements on a car. I’ve always just considered my vehicle a tool that helps me get stuff done. Ironically, tools are all neon colors now!

I mean, I think a lot of people are "A to B" types of motorists. It's not surprising that a silver/gray crossover orb with good gas milage, ok reliability, and adequate storage/cargo space fits the bill just fine.

That
Then vs now
AI generated and/or Colorized picture.

Think back, think clearly, with no bias.
Think of the standard, not the anomaly.
Not the one year +Plum Crazy, not Hugger Orange...

Colors haven't changed much.

Oddly enough, wehn I bought the Focus used, I really wanted a Silver or Black one, the yellow was the nicest I found and it was close by. I grew to like it and like you, don't really care what others think, I just buy what I like and in the case of the Focus, I really wanted an SVT, not a yellow car. On my Bronco, I really wanted the Rapid Red metallic, Ford discontinued that color in 2023 so I went with the Hot Pepper Red which originaly In wasn't crazy about but have grown to really like.

I can *usually* find a color I like. Though have always wanted a blue car and have never been able to get one in a blue that I like. I missed Azure Gray by a year.

I bought my Bronco about 2 months ago. For an offroad vehicle, I might have gone with orange if they had it available.

Curious to see what colors come out for 2027. At least per google, they usually pick next years colors around this time. If we're lucky, they'll add some more gray!

I've always felt Bronco should share colors with the Mustang.

That'd give us: Adriatic Blue Metallic, Orange Fury Metallic, Avalanche Gray, Molten Magenta Metallic, Vapor Blue Metallic, Grabber Blue Metallic, Race Red, & Blue Ember Metallic.
Maybe a few years ago I would have agreed with you but I find even the colors on the Mustang lacking.
