Anybody buying motor oil in bulk?

No doubt that's a lot of oil. You could start doing oil changes for friends and family. I sold a couple of barrels to a farmer friend of mine. When his relatives found out, he had to lock it up!

I was hoping to find some source that consistently beats Walmart, but like the rest of the posters here that’s my usual source unless I stumble on an unusual sale somewhere else.

My local NAPA discounts Mobile 1 on a regular basis. Worth a look.

I have three vehicles that all use the same filter, so I buy filters in bulk (12-packs) from my dealer. Comes out to be just over $7 per filter, but usually pay with FordPass points so it's free.

Oil I simply buy whenever it's on-sale at AutoZone or whatever. Not a super awesome deal, but good enough.

In a moment "brilliance"... I did buy a 55 gal drum of motor oil once. Turns out it's big and heavy and takes up a lot of room and smells funny. Apparently buying enough motor oil to last nearly a decade wasn't the smartest move on the planet and I ended up trading in the oil for a set of tires at a local shop 2-3 years in.

I recently purchased 6 5-quart jugs of Pennzoil ultra platinum. Sounds like a lot, but have a lots of engines to service (e.g., Bronco, whole house/portable generator, snowblower and other equipment).

That's about the amount I'm looking for. Where'd you find that and was it less than $27/jug?

I wouldn’t want to use oil from a huge container. It does have a shelf life and additive packages do separate and sit at the bottom. I’d rather have a jug I can shake and dump in.

Walmart…$29.40 each.

I probably have 5-10 gallons of used motor oil if that counts? Really hard to find places locally that take anything more than a gallon at a time.

Oof, that's more than I'm paying for Mobil 1 full synthetic high mileage. Like I said about $27 per 5qt jug.

Ultra Platinum is often hard to find, at least by me. So I grabbed it when it was available.
