How to prevent ice buildup on fog lights ?

Living up here in the San Juan Mountains has some challenges. But at least I get use the capabilities of my Bronco every week. But with fog LED lights not putting out too much heat, and if its coming down, the ice up and become totally unusable. Cover??? . Kept running into this challenge... Baja Designs fogs... (and included typical day on the passes, why semi's are not fined higher amounts with inadequate equipment is baffling to me...)

Have you considered some halogen auxiliary lights? You could probably put Hella 500s or KC Daylighters on top of your bumper as proper snowmelters.
There are also heated-face LEDs but I haven't seen a set from a company I really trust.

I have a pair of Hella 500s with amber lenses I need to list on here. They use a 55w H3 halogen bulb.

I live in Michigan and we get some pretty good snows, ice and slush on our roads, I honestly can't say I have gotten to the point where the head lights are unusable due to the above mentioned mother nature droppings. I suppose if it got real bad I would pull over and wipe em down. Curious if its just me or is it a issue like OP describes.

I live in northern Colorado & grew up in MN, so I understand real winter.

I can speak from experience that ice accumulation on Bronco signature headlights is real.

Have I done anything about it? No.

Unless Ford offers a winter package with an EOM headlight with a heated ring or something, which is unlikely, I’m unlikely to swap out my signature headlights. I’ll admit I’m skeptical of aftermarket headlights in general.

Best way that I've found to avoid ice on the headlights is to just live in Arizona.

If you have the auxiliary switches you could run heat trace around the headlights.

To be clear. These are in the inset fog pockets. I think because they are a cavity they can easily accumulate vs a flush surface…

I'm using the Oracle Oculus heated headlights. So far no problem, but only one trip while snowing.

Eastern beat me to it - Oracle sells a heated set of replacements just for this issue..

The other thing I might recommend would be a set of ditch lights on the hood: no, they aren’t exactly legal to run on road but they would be easy to clean off and would probably stay clean-ish while driving

We get a really wet snow out west here that sticks like paste to everything. I’ve seen it stick to vertical walls with a little wind. And when it snows, if it decides to, it can flat out dump. Like rain in Florida

Really depends on where you are at. I never had an issue with it in Indiana, but the snow in the Sierras is something altogether different

Or, even better, grab 2 hair dryers and point them at your headlights; of course, utilizing the aux switch.
