How long to install light bar, ditch lights, and fog lights?

I have a 40" light bar, a pair of ditch lights, and three pairs of fog lights that I'd like to have installed. I got an estimate from a local shop on how many hours it'd take for them to install them for me but it sounds a bit high. What's the average time for a job like this?

There’s a few key factors missing to give a best case estimate. Do all of these have all necessary hardware and wires? Are you wiring to the aux switches? Mounting locations for each of these?

Offhand without knowing the above I would say maybe 4-6 hours though with 1 guy.

The fogs, pods, and light bar will be connected to three separate aux switches.
The light bar will obviously be mounted on the roof - I have the mounting hardware for it. The ditch lights will be mounted in the usual location. The three pairs of fog lights will be mounted in the stock Bronco bumper.

I wouldn’t think it takes more than 8 hours. Any reason you don’t DIY? It’s not terribly difficult except for the scary part of drilling a hole in your windshield header for the light bar wire to pass through.

I don't have a driveway/garage to do the work in.

Also I thought that the Bronco has a pre-made channel for the wiring. It explains it in this video.

Including opening the boxes, assembling lights, hooking up harnesses and mounts and routing cables, the Baja XL80 A pillar lights took me roughly 1 hour. Maybe add another 30 for cleaning up all the wiring in the engine bay. 9 -12 hours seems excessive but I would recommend doing it yourself if possible.

Why not get a second quote from another shop? Compare them and see if it’s reasonable.

A lot of shops don’t bill at a rate of clock hour = billed hours. The “hour” is just a unit of measurement. Some techs work faster than others so it’s not fair for a fast tech to make less money than a slow tech for the same install.

We charge $200 for a roof light bar ($300 for a Baja Designs Linkable or Diode Dynamics CrossLink Kit)
$100 for ditch lights
$200 for a triple fog kit

That's assuming the kits were purchased from us (we don't install customer provided items) as we know what harnesses are in there. And assuming it's all upfitter connections.

We'd normally tackle all of that in about 3-4 hours with 2 guys working on it.
