🇺🇸 Ford Bronco is among Top 10 Most American Made Vehicles

Per the American University Kogod Business School's annual "Made in America Auto Index."

There are 25 total vehicles listed in the Top 10 (there are lots of ties this year). Here's the full list:

For comparison sake, the Bronco manual's score is 70 and Bronco Sport's is 31.5.

You can't have 25 vehicles in the top 10. If two vehicles are tied for #1, the next vehicle is #3.

They split it out.

• Bronco automatic is 77.5%.
• Bronco manual is 70%.
• Bronco Sport is 31.5%.

Not surprising considering the Bronco Sport is assembled down in Mexico along with the Maverick. For the full-sized Bronco, the manual transmission take-rate is about 15%. So if you weigh it accordingly the full-sized Bronco overall is around 76.4%, which still would be in the top 10.

Thank you. I wanted those answers, but didn't feel like searching through those numbers any more. It still seems odd to break out by transmission. Almost like creating a new "segment" for an "all-new" version of a vehicle so it can lead in some esoteric data point. Also, as much as having a UM spin-off org in Michigan is a benefit for industry insider knowledge it is probably also a source of bias. Like you said, it'd still be in the top ten. Some of the seven categories are given arbitrary numerical weighting as well.

At least they're giving some consideration to the domestic input. Ford and others have dropped in the last several years and we all saw how well that worked out when things went wrong. I hope it improves in the future. As much as I don't want the pricing to skyrocket benefitting from global poverty and slave-class labor isn't the nicest thing we could do.

It’s how the criteria is weighted. A transmission made elsewhere makes a bigger difference to the overall score because it’s a larger part of the vehicle as a whole.

Well as folks used to say at work, that and a nickel still doesn't buy a cup of coffee. So they are in the 10 ten, but here we all wait for chips and dips .
