Yes, the OEM Bilsteins are junk. Even their entry level 5100 is a vastly better built shock.

It was suggested on here nearly 2 years ago to consider using a hose clamp to reinforce the "attachment". Will it help/fix the problem? Not sure, but it certainly adds stability to the reservior. It isn't going to be able to wiggle under load like it can without the clamp. I'm just hoping to get to 50k then I'll do 6100's or Fox or maybe even Kings....

Front picture was easier to get, but you get the idea.

Are these really made by Bilstein or is it just Bilstein's design and name and manufactured by the cheapest supplier in China like the B&O sound system?
They are most likely made by Bilstein but to Ford specification (dirt cheap) by one of their China factories rather than made to the same standards of their aftermarket shocks that may be manufactured in the USA or Germany. Not much different than say Recaro seats in a Focus ST which looked cool but were amongst the most uncomfortable Recaro seats you will ever sit in because they were made to a very low price point.

That is an excellent idea and should be more widely known here.

Not to be a Ford apologist, but you're in NY, the shit you guys put on winter roads could rust rubber šŸ˜…

But seriously, I'm about to swap to Eibachs kit too.

@CarmeloS did you put the Icon UCAs on at the same time as the Eibachs or did you drive some on the springs only first? I'm not cranking the lift on mine up, so I don't really want to add UCA's to my list unless I have to.
same time, I just wish I knew about the Rockjock sooner.

How are these recovered after they fall off? Seems like it would come off while driving, not while parked, and be lost on the road somewhere, but all the failures seem to have photos of the unattached reservoir. Are you guys ripping them off?

Where did you find the reservoir? I doubt it was just sitting there on the ground where you parked. Did it ā€œfall offā€ or did you pull it off?

I pulled my covers off and they had water sitting there so I drilled holes for drainage, not sure if this will work but can’t hurt
I wonder how many people still have the covers? I lost both of mine by about the 3rd wheeling trip.

I completely understand your reasoning.

I'm an automotive engineer, and know the factory Bilsteins are built to the lowest price point possible. Designed to last right up to the end of the warranty.

If Fox or Eibach won the bid, it would probably be the same.

6100s are the best shock in the midrange market. I'm away from my computer, but there are a few YT videos with blind testing that usually has the 6100s coming out on top.
I'm holding out for the new Bilstein 8112's that will be coming out with zone control. SO far the stock sasquatch suspension has surprized me but yes. 50-60K mikes I guarantee they'll be at end of life.

Have we heard any updates on the release?

If I keep my Bronco I'd consider them too.

There have been reports on 6g about missing reservoirs. Someone even said they didn't notice a ride change, an oil service tech or someone noticed it. My guess is sometimes they are obviously bad but still hanging on, or they pull it off, or it just happens to fall off where it doesn't fall to the ground.

I was driving (top down of course)in my work parking lot hit a dip in the road (aggressively) šŸ˜‡ and heard that sound of something is broke. Looked back and saw the Bilstien beer can spitting and spinning behind my mall crawler 🤮

R&D is complete, tuning is complete, now they are just tooling up the factory for them so it should be in the next 4 - 6 mo I imagine. I used to work for Bilstein so I know they take a while to come out but certainly will be worth it. The 8112's will basically turn a sasquatch into a smaller Braptor. I had them on my Taco and it was insane the control and speeds I could get up to in the rough.
