I'll be changing my transfer case and diff fluids tomorrow. The shop manual says to replace 2 washers (ab3z-7482-a). Dealer parts dept charged me $18 each!

Anyway, I believe I've found an exact replacement on Belmetric website for .35, at least the OD and thickness is spot on. I just need to know the size of the drain and fill bolts? The bolt size options at Belmetric shows M14, M18, M20, M24, M26, M27 and M32

@Ducati1098 Does anyone know the drain/fill bolt size?

One small win for us

A crush washers material is every bit if not more important than it's size. Specifically, one can't use steel or too hard or soft of a material. That factory one appears to be aluminum, but I can't guarantee that.

McMaster Carr has a huge selection of copper and aluminum "sealing washers".

I would guess M14 or M18 is probably the closest, but I don’t know the exact size. Can’t find it listed anywhere.

I would just measure the inside of the correct washer you have pictured.

If I recall the fill and drain are same size - just drain has the magnetic pickup.

So could pop the fill plug and measure this without making a mess.

I would volunteer but it’s dark and it’s half past beer time here

It didn't dawn on me to measure the inner diameter of the OEM washer like @Ducati1098 suggested, which is 18mm. Just ordered 30 of them from Belmetric for the hell of it @ .26 cents each, under $10 including shipping. These do appear to the the exact match.

I looked up McMaster Carr version which are slightly thinner and a bit more... 10 pieces for $24.

These OEM washers are aluminum

Your local parts store will have a bunch of these in stock, just bring the old one and match it up. They tend to be either Aluminum or Copper, at least Aluminum and Copper COLOR, not sure of the actual material composition.

If you search for "crush washer aluminum 18mm", lots of stuff will pop up on amazon. They don't list the bronco fitment specifically and you have to match up other dimensions (seem to be a lot of 1.5mm thick). I don't think the 2mm thickness is critical but they are out there, listed for other vehicles.

I checked orielly and advanced auto parts online and there is a Dorman part that spiced in inches I didnt match up. The NAPA general fit part was 1.5mm thick. I tried to search specific to the bronco but they dont recognize the transfer case drain plug or its crush washer at all.

In this case, I will take the chance on chinesium working just fine. I will probably just order amazon when I need it. Made a note in my maintenance record.

Thanks for bringing this up.

That washer is copper, not aluminum. I would stick with aluminum since the transfer case is probably aluminum as well (dissimilar metals, crush hardness, etc.). They have an aluminum one for M18. Interestingly, McMaster does not have 2mm thick ones in 18mm (except one weird wood-filled one). But Amazon does have some. Im done with this rabbit hole.

Any option is better than paying $36 for 2 washers. I bit the bullet and purchased the OEM washers so that i could know exact spec, rather than guessing... Aluminum 2mm thick x 24mm OD x 18mm ID. Exact match found on Belmetric for pennies, because that's all they're truly worth anyway.

I keep vehicles for a long time so I now have a stock for future fluid changes.

I posted the copper version in error for comparison between McMaster Carr and Belmetric.
