Really hoping that VW lands the plane with the Scout. Always love seeing the classic ones and this thing better can wheel and not be a new Pathfinder or Blazer….

Looking forward to this reveal.

Now that VW has officially announced their partnership i’d bet my shoes on the scout being a retooled R1T / R1S
Ohh gosh, if these will just be a Rivian, that would be terrible.

The guys around here who drive Rivian….. Well, let’s just say that they’ve exhausted the Milworks catalog and at the very least, ORVIS, so I guess one of these will complete “the look”. Whatever. :cautious:

I don’t get the constant chasing of this customer. Money, yes. Cool? Never. Loyal to the brand? Make others want to look like and be like? Not really.

So, who is this thing for being an EV at that? Not sure, but interesting to see how it plays. I love the Scout name and history and as I said, hope VW can land this plane.

That's what I assumed initially, but the CEO confirmed that the new Scouts are going to be Body-on-Frame using a new, unshared platform with built in mechanical lockers, not unibodies with torque vectoring like Rivian uses, so these will probably be considerably more off-road capable than any other EV on the market.

Much like the Bronco reveal, $100 refundable deposit gets you in.
I'll be tuning in right at 5PM ET to see more details.

I would be up for something 2DR, not holding my breath though.

Yep, this 4 Door silhouette is an eye roll, but to some, so is EV only, although I know if this idea were to have come up perhaps 2 years later, would have had an ICE or at least hybrid engine which would have been just fine for what it likely is.

But no. Just hoping it's not just a Tiguan EV with a fancy shell and a $70K price tag.

A cool interior would make it a nice third car if it were reasonably priced.

Being made in South Carolina, I hope it does ok for the plant workers jobs.

Given market demands, it will almost certainly be a 4 Door, though in all fairness the Scout was always a bit bigger than the Bronco, the Scout II was 15" longer than a 1st-Gen Bronco, which is coincidentally the difference in length between a 2 Door and 4 Door Bronco. Biggest thing up in the air for me is whether or not it will have a removable top like the originals.

I’m not against EVs at all but they should have named it something else. It’s not a Scout.

This is right up there with what Chevy did to the Blazer line. At least Chevy screwed up their own product.

Can’t wait for someone to make a EV Unimog. 🙄
