Hahahahahahaha. I only read the rubicon one. “Exclusive private land access to Rubicon Springs”. Bro that’s $20/night cash first come, first serve all day, every day. Retired trooper mans the shack during the summer and takes your cash. They make it seem like you’re getting an experience no one else gets.

Also the Raptor only part is hilarious. I might just show up (public trail and all) and run laps around em in my Big Bend.

@Snacktime do you wanna go troll with me?

That and the Rubicon being a rated 10 trail. Are they using a 15 point scale

I read their schedule. Going from the Springs to the trail exit in 4 hours with 14 Raptors is very wishful thinking haha.

Stupid prices for what can be done for a fraction of that, but hey, when you’ve got money burning a hole in your pocket and want to part with it, who are we to stop you? :)

Enjoy the City Slickers trail experience!

I guess Ford decided to fill in that outdoor gap left when REI decided last year to get out of the adventure travel game.

Enjoy!

While not for me, it’s not a bad idea.

More people offroad is better than fewer, as perhaps we can get more efforts to create outdoor spaces to wheel.

Given that the prices probably have to include liability insurance, all of the work needed to make sure the trips are without any sort of issues, etc. it’s not necessarily a huge ripoff.

Of course, for those who feel differently, it creates an opportunity to put something similar together at a lower cost and offer it to the public…which we should all be supportive of.

This is for the same people who pay $400 to go on a guided 3 hour hike... Apparently Ford believes some of them bought a Bronco.

It will take only 1 Newb that can't follow directions to ruin that time table :sneaky:

All I can say is wow! That is a lot of money, you could go on a cruise ship for three days for that price! There are 4 wheel drive clubs that have runs through those places you can connect with and go with them! But as someone say earlier I f you have the money go for it!

So Ray, when you say a fraction of the cost, what do you think, let's say a four day trip should cost?
Let's use the Emigrant Trail for reference since that's the closest to me.
All of my off-road experience is tied to going muddin as teenagers in trucks and Jeeps, Samurai etc. Practical experience is getting to and from all the deer leases, camping in the Trinity River Bottom, and multiple other places around Texas. I have never been on a trip with the sole purpose being off-roading/overlanding or whatever you want to call it. No rock crawling experience prior to Texas Off Roadeo.
I know how to plan a camping trip, what to bring/prepare for etc. My wife and I are going to Merus Adventure at Palo Duro Canyon over spring break so any advice/wisdom you can give would be greatly appreciated. @popo_patty, @Felix808 and anyone else with advice chime in as well.

I will say that one thing to consider is that if you go with a club, they can be really helpful…

But have no real obligation to you at all. With the service being provided, there’s obviously an expectation that they’ll help you out.

Would a club help you? I would hope so…but again, no obligation to do so.

Also, sometimes people in clubs make great decisions, sometimes not. I would hope for the money involved that the leadership and decisionmaking would be top notch.

I’m curious who the guides are and if they are knowledgeable on the rubicon. Based on the schedule, I’d say no. I do know that Ford is paying a marketing company to run the event and coordinate everything. It’s not Ford themselves.

Yes, always keep a vendor between you and liability.
