Hello all,

I’ve been wanting a company to make soft doors or emergency door covers for driving in the rain when you have your doors off for awhile now, and no one has answered the call yet so since Summer is coming I crafted some makeshift emergency rain doors myself out of a couple clear vinyl table mats, some Velcro, and some magnets.

I added some Velcro strips across the top of the door frame and connected them to the vinyl, and I also added some long magnetic strips to the vinyl around the metal doorframe area.

hoping some company fills this need sooner or later!

Very innovative and looks useful when caught off guard in a rain storm. I’m surprised no company has come up with this option yet.

Now take it through a car wash for the ultimate test 😁

I've been hunting as well for soft doors like the old school Jeeps etc. I bought a set of tube doors from EZ 4x4. In talking with them they have some "cool stuff" they said coming out to accessorize the doors. I asked the question because there is a bolt hole on the outside that didn't look right, he said something to the effect of "good things to come" so hopeful there is a lean towards this!

yeah they are doing some cool usable stuff. I am pretty sure I will be getting their tube doors specially if they create an add on for plastic aka jeep zipper doors.

FREE IDEA (just give me a free set)

some company could also make a full cab cover like the broncover that has clear vinyl windows and doesn't cover the tail lights and mirrors with zippers that allow you into the cab.

I used to keep a poncho in my TJ for unplanned showers/downpours. Mind you, the radio was an option for that (no modern electronics) and between the factory holes in the tub and the numerous additional rust holes, any incoming water quickly found its way out...

A few years ago I used clear vinyl tarps from Amazon to winterize a gazebo (with a few propane heaters it is quite warm even in the winter in New York). I bought them from a company on Amazon that custom fabricated them, including placement of zippers (not a large variety of options in terms of placement, but at least some). Here is an example from one company on Amazon (I'm pretty sure I went with another company but am still looking for my Amazon order):

They come with evenly spaced grommets and can likely be tied into place using the multiple attachment points on the Bronco, or even using a light modular frame to match the rough outline of the door. The tarps come in different thicknesses, have options for the color of the ribbon around the outside of the tarp and I can attest to their strength since I've had mine up for 2 or 3 years and I do not take them down in the Summer.

Final thought: I'm not sure these would make a good material for a cover over the entire cab, or car, as the material is likely to rub any contact point and I don't think anyone is keen on the cover scratching the paint.

I agree. I have never understood the appeal of taking the doors off. They have this neat feature that works great for emergency rain situations- rolling up the windows.

Joking aside, I can't get enough armor around me to feel comfortable on any road these days.
