Does anyone else’s 2.7 sound like this? I’m not sure if it’s normal or not. It’s only noticeable at idle and it does change pitch with slight rev. Its more noticeable at the bottom.

Yup.

https://bronco6g.com/forum/threads/torque-converter-whine.32885/

It sounds like transmission/tc whine to me - our '61 Galaxie makes the same noise but much louder. Look up "torque converter whine" on YouTube and you'll hear a similar noise.

I was gonna go see what the dealer thought, but idk. You can hear Lite Brites Bronco making the same noise in their videos as well. I don't have much faith in my dealer service department anyway.

I'd love for someone who knows what it is to explain it.

hmmmm… I wonder if anyone with the 2.3 can confirm if theirs make the same noise since they use the same transmission?

Sounds normal to me. Microphones often amplify noises that our ears ignore, making them sound like something is wrong.

I came here expecting this thread to be about us 2.7L owners complaining about how the engines have been failing. Hmm...

This is normal. From the SSM regarding this issue:

Some 2017-2022 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT transmission may exhibit a whine noise at idle and/or while driving. This may be identified as coming from the bellhousing and the front of the transmission fluid pan. The whine noise may become louder when the transmission is at operating temperature and may increase with engine revolutions per minute (RPM) in the park (P) position. A small amount of whine noise is considered to be characteristic of the 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT transmissions due to the offset gear drivetrain in the front support and has no effect on durability.
Thanks! I would expect the 2.3 to have the same whine as well then?

The 10 spd in my wife's 5.0L Mustang, and the one in my 2.3L Ranger whine also. Nature of the beast as it's said.

Note: Both of these are the 10R80 trannies. Seems the 60's do the same.

I’m getting this exact same noise after 750 miles. Did you ever find a solution?

No solution. I did some reading and watching videos of broncos and other vehicles equip with the same 10 speed auto. It seems to be a normal characteristics of the transmission. I think it has quiet down some now that in at 17k miles though… still audible but not as loud.

Found this old thread. I’m new to turbo engine powertrain and of course Ecoboost and 10R60 transmission, so still getting used to new things. I’m hearing the same transmission whine as described above from my 2.3l, especially during initial acceleration and approaching to stop. If I rev the engine at idle, pitch does change with rpm. It’s not loud but once you hear it once it’s always there.
