Quick update here: You were right, they did #3. Took an existing 2 door badlands order that cancelled with the dealer and updated with 2 door black diamond since the dealer never sent the cancel to Ford. I wonder if changing it from badlands to black diamond would increase the time?

My name is not associated with this order at all and they will contact me when it gets scheduled/built. I signed a build sheet with the final pricing (MSRP + 2k) and had it signed by the sales manager. I was told I would be contacted when it was scheduled and given a VIN. Said 3 to 6 months but I don't know if I believe that. To be honest, I am not going to hold my breath though. If it works out I will be pleasantly surprised, but if not the plan will be to just order whenever these order banks officially open.
I hope the 3-6months holds true, but in the meantime I would be searching the online car sales sites trying to find a similar build for the same price.

I knew that #3 was the likely option - that is the reason I phrased the other 2 the way I did. Just hope that the original buyer whose name is still attached to the "cancelled" order doesn't intercede and attempt to take delivery of the order when it comes. I may do that when my "cancelled" order comes in that the dealer never cancelled. I still get the auto generated emails from Ford as the dealer has no way to disassociate my name with the order at Ford headquarters.
