I ended up purchasing a Wrangler JL as I couldn't wait for the Bronco. It was supposed to be a graduation gift for my son but he managed to graduate before the Bronco was built.

I still have the Bronco on order and am considering keeping it for myself (and wife) even though I just got my Maverick. I was surprised to see the Bronco 2dr has a tow rating of 3500lbs vs the Wrangler 2dr at 2k.

Without resorting to Wrangler bashing can someone explain the huge difference? I feel like I could put an electric brake controller on the Bronco and it would be an effective backup for the Maverick when the wife takes it. The boat is a shade over 3,500

true. my Mav took 5 months and bronco will easily beat that.

Any idea what contributes to the 1.5k difference between jl2 dr and bronco 2dr?

Fairy dust. And maybe the radiator.

Neither is particularly good at towing at highway speeds.

Won’t be too worried as long as I install the brake controller.

Assuming it’s cooling. That’s partially what gets Mav from 2k to 4K

On Mav you go 2k to 4K with cooling, gearing and built in trailer brake controller

Bronco they are all rated 3k

the dealer who sold me the Mav tells me it’s because of a heavy duty cooler on the Bronco.

1.5k over the 2dr JL is significant. I’ll be towing with mine

Everyone else here is mad that the tow rating is too LOW. And you want us to guess why it's so high?

In the 2dr it’s 1.5 k higher than jk 2dr. And only .5 lower than Mav with the full 4K treatment.

impressive

The 2dr Wrangler has a shorter wheelbase which puts it at a disadvantage. The Wrangler also has a significantly lower GVWR than the Bronco. As we know, GVWR is a huge factor in many of the Bronco's ratings, to the point where it keeps a couple 4dr trims from even getting the full 3500lb rating.

Not much to complain considering the size for the 2dr.

I’ll add brake controller and should be good. I imagine the Mav integrated controller can be brought up on the screen with FORScan
