How does one add a switch to the switch bank, and how difficult is it?

You can’t add one.
That’s not just a switch pack, it’s a module.
If you need switches, you’re better off adding aux switches. Far easier.

To get both missing factory switches and their functions, trade your current Bronco in on a Badlands. For just the front locker, trade for any trim with the Sasquatch package. That's going to be the most efficient method, in terms of money/time/energy.

For placing other switches there, not really an issue if you don't mind modifying your dash in that space (cutting/drilling may be required). If you don't already have aux switches (can also be solved with trading for different trim level) aftermarket versions exist and there are some better (imo) mounting locations.

You can go with a bluetooth-based switching solution in lieu of the expensive retro-fitting of Ford overhead switches or drilling holes. The following is one of many cheap wireless switching kits out there:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F12KHMWV?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2

I installed a DV2 overhead molle panel in my stripped-down Big Bend, which gives you lots of options to mount radios, switches, USB hubs etc. Routing stout 12VDC wiring to the engine bay is possible by fishing it through the right-front fender (manual transmission) or through a rubber grommet on the drivers-side firewall (automatic transmission).

I’ve seen people buy the part from a different trim level that has the other Hero options, but since it’s closely integrated with the computer and isn’t just a standard toggle switch, not sure you could repurpose it for other things short of mechanically altering the internals

Plus you'd have a logo that wouldn't match the purpose of the added switch.
