I have the 2024 2 Door BB with mid package.
I would like to listen to my Spotify play lists as downloaded onto my phone.
But, if I have the Android Auto on, the Google Maps automatically comes on the screen, which I assume is eating data.
Is there a way I can access the Spotify without having Google Maps come up?
Or (and this is entirely possible) am I just clueless?

I have an Android as well -- the way Android Auto works is it'll bring up your last-used map app (Google Maps, Waze, OnX, etc) by default. You can switch apps to bring up Spotify as your primary app being used, there's an icon in the bottom left of the Android Auto interface that is an app switcher.

If you don't have an actual route planned that you're navigating to in Google Maps, it won't be running in the background and drawing data if you bring Spotify up as the primary app you're using in Android Auto.

That's an Android Auto thing unfortunately. Nothing you or Ford can change on their end. Would have to be a change on the Android side.

There was a beta version of Android Auto last year that had "startup options" to allow you to select/deselect which applications start automatically when Android Auto starts. But that feature never made it to the production version of Android as far as I'm aware.

EDIT-- Just asked my brother about it (the Android guru), he said you can disable Google Maps and all other mapping applications entirely and it'll prevent it from auto-launching. If you wanted to go that route.

I had been annoyed by this because I wanted it to default to the Audio screen, but always defaulted to my last used mapping app. A couple months ago my Android lost wireless connection ability. Problem solved, if I want to used Google or Onx (seldom) I just wire it up. I don't use any Android audio stuff.
