I found this thread: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/arb-single-compressor-install-video-helpful-hints.71700/

which details the install of the BRUSHED compressor SINGLE, but i bought the BRUSHLESS compressor... I have the dual BRUSHED compressor in my van, so I have a little comparison between the two...

I wanted to post a few points on the install of the BRUSHLESS (because of some form factor differences between the brushed and brushless single compressor) that are a little different than the BRUSHED compressor.

1. I went with the single compressor not because it was a little cheaper but because I figured I didn't need the faster fill rate but rather wanted to be more economical with space inside the engine bay. Wrong. The mount basically occupies the space whether it's Double or Single. So don't let that bug you much. Trivial point my dual brushed compressor SOUNDS much better than the single brushless. The single brushless sounds strained and high pitch, but works fine.

2. The install is pretty straightforward. I loosened that inside shock mount bolt quite a bit and it was pretty easy to slip the medial bracket underneath there with it that loose(but not too lose). Torqued it up to spec with torque wrench (if you don't have one of these and have bikes or cars you work on, get them. I have a small 0-20lb/ft and a large 10-90lb/ft torque wrenches.)

3. The only way I could get the configuration of the compressor to fit is fully on its side in this configuration.

4. I got a little lucky because you need to mount the ARB bracket to the KR off road bracket first without really knowing how the compressor will fit in there. If you mount the ARB bracket too far to the side of the passenger wall, then the pressure control port will hit the KR bracket on the engine side and you can't rotate the compressor "sideways" enough. But if you mount it TOO far to the engine side then it seems it gets in the way with the wiring harnesses near the engine. I would say favor mounting the ARB bracket somewhat but not all the way to the engine side of the KR mount.

5. I ran the wiring harness and + power along the firewall and had JUST enough positive wire to reach the battery... ( not my cleanest wiring job in the world but it works).

Thanks for the write up and the pointers! I just purchased the single brushless and KR mount bracket today, looking forward to getting it installed once it arrives!

Good to see an install on the ARB single brushless. I just picked one of these up and will do a tailgate install, as soon as American Adventue Lab fabs the bracket for this compressor.

If you run that red wire UNDER the fuse box ,instead of around it,you should have lots.

This is useful to me, since no-one seems to ever document installs of the singles, appreciate it. Now I just need to rework my wiring harness from a Tacoma bed install, to an underhood one.

Looks good. im not sure if you are aware, but that silver air canister ROTATES :) So you can actually rotate it so everything sits how you want. You may know that. If others do not... loosen this bolt up and you can rotate the canister to point your air port where you want. Also another thing to note... you CAN USE some of the ports on the silver canister. There are TWO additional ports you can connect accessories to! So you are not forced to use the 2 on the end, but you have TWO MORE. Soo that may have helped with your install as you could have had the pressure switch and coupler on the same side.

The new brushless compressors ARE faster however as you noted, different noises. The other oddity is the location of the air port and pressure switch port. Both the twin and single now have a pressure port and air port (previously the twin's was buried inside somewhere out of the way).

This just makes for awkward installs if you're used to the OG Twins. Not bad, just "different"

Also... they don't sheeth the wires anymore. Sigh... not sure why. We do it in our shop when we do installs but out of the box, they are not protected in a wire loom. We always recommend customers add a wire loom.

The brushless are faster but add maybe 15-30 minutes to the install now because of some extra steps.

Yes, I did rotate the silver canister a little. Now I didn't take off the fittings on the "top" of the cylinder labeled C, but they look to be smaller diameter ports than the ones labeled B?? So the pressure switch fitting wouldn't screw in there??

When you say the wires aren't sheathed. You mean the positive red wire and back near the connections to the compressor? The up fitter wiring loom is wrapped.

Correct. They no longer put a wire loom (sheething) around the wires. The red and black wires are not protected. I like to always ensure wiring is protected with nylon braided wire loom (or plastic wire loom if you can only find that)

I'm interested in the single brushless compressor with a vertical mount. I wish someone would produce a mount for it instead of making you use a twin mount that takes up more space than needed.

Why not just go with our mount. You're not using that space for anything anyway so what's the problem using our mount? It's why we designed it, as it's compatible with single and twin air compressors. Keeps the compressor up high for easy access. Easy to install. And you save $$ on the kit using the coupon code BRONCO6G sooo best of everything!

I have an odd question about your mount. I want to mount a bypass oil filter in the area where the air compressor is designed to fit with your mount. If I use the single brushless air compressor with your mount, do you think I would still have room for the bypass oil filter in that area?
