I have non-SAS Badlands with factory receiver hitch - bought a ball/receiver today and stuck it in and noticed how little clearance there is with my 33" KO2s. I'm upgrading to 35s. Is this a problem?

Thanks - maybe I should just take it back and get a longer one then. I just bought it.

If you know what you're towing, you should also make sure you don't need a drop hitch before you buy something.

My drop hitch provides enough extension on its own that I don't need to specifically buy an extension.

I would guess that most small utility trailers would be low enough to need a drop hitch, especially if I get 35s. (Badlands)

im in a sasquatch and a 5.25" drop makes me pretty level with a haulmark trailer

Yeah you'll need something.

I have a non-Sasquatch Badlands with 33s and needed a 4.5" drop hitch.

This is the answer. You likely want a drop hitch anyway to tow close to flat, but that depends on your trailer. I use a drop hitch on mine.

You need a drop receiver. I have a 3" on mine. My gate and spare will clear my 2 trailers howevery. I open it then connect my trailer. The tire clears just enough the latch wont release so its also theft prevention.

If you can fit the hitch in there then it’s fine. You can take the spare off to fit it and set it back on if you want (or just throw the spare in the trailer)

But otherwise yeah - drop hitch. Do not go with an extension. 3” drop barely cleared being able to latch the hitch lock without having to take the off spare with 35”s on the OEM spare carrier for me.

Just keep in mind that any drop or extension is going to change the towing/tongue weight numbers, more drop or extension is going to reduce capable weights. Just keep that in mind…..

A drop hitch also reduces tongue weight? I knew about extensions but not drops.
