@High Proof what is the story about the police lights?
We were on a long road trip and had the Jeep completely loaded down with stuff. We stopped by the Rio Grande to watch the sunset. Border Patrol thought we looked a little suspicious! Until they saw we were 50 year olds from Florida and all the stuff was clothing, etc. :ROFLMAO:

The officer was very nice and polite. Just doing his job. We did find it kind of funny though.

Edit - it was on the way to Terlingua where we stayed while visiting the park.

I've camped at Big Bend and took several of my sons (14 at the time) friends down the Rio on a rafting trip and the river was "higher than they had ever seen it" and we survived. It is beautiful there and if you get a chance, please go.

If you want hard-core off-roading in a National Park, Canyonlands is your ticket. The Park Ranger all but scoffed when I inquired about certain roads to take in my stock Land Cruiser.

I was in good company in this remote spot on the north rim of GCNP.

Regarding “Eastbound and Down,” I took a picture of this car in Leipers Fork, TN last week.

My crew of 14 year olds and our guide on the Rio and I didn’t lose one. (We did end up under a rapid)

I live in Texas and would love to get together with some fellow Broncos at big bend. Perfect place to get to know the new bronco.
Find West Texas Broncos on Facebook. Join and as soon as deliveries start, we'll start making trips.

No, we had an airbnb cabin. Agave Terlingua. It was a bit spooky actually when we arrived at night. The front door was slightly open. It had an outdoor shower that had a door that locked from outside - you couldn't lock it from the inside. But it turned out to be a really cool little place when we could see it better by the light of day. Had food at some little bar/restaurant. The locals were all friendly. We would definitely go back.

i spent 3 months in big bend back in 2017. its my favorite place in the country and the reason i'm getting the big bend trim ? can't wait to have a bronco meet up out there!! like others have said, the primitive roads in the national park are easy, except maybe black gap. a great place for newbs like me to learn 4x4 ? (provided that one can change a tire). river road will be muddy in the rainy season (summer) and some jeep drivers have been humbled when they attempted to cross flash floods. big bend ranch state park also has primitive roads, and it's just down the highway west past terlingua and lajitas

Whooaa, pretty spooky for sure. That sounds like a cool atmosphere though.

I’ve never been to Lajitas Resort. It looks beautiful from online pictures
had to cancel plans to go earlier this year because I got sick (not Rona). I might check out the Agave one instead next time around though.
