20 years ago I had a 1985 fox body Mustang GT. I had bought these "clip in and out" head light blackouts, they looked cool as $hit on black stang, but you could not see anything at night with them on.. (only tried 2-3 times) I would not do permanent headlight black outs on any vehicle.

Now rear I do have smoked and you can see they are not to bad and they look cool!!

Do you think 35% would be ok on headlights or no?

35% will block 65% of visible light .
I had 70% which only blocks 30% and it drove me nuts trying to see at night.

It's all fine until you hit that person wearing all black on a dark street one night, lol

I had my old Mustang’s headlights tinted, reduced visibility

just ask a vendor who sells a pair if they could paint the inside for you

So make sure you have a solid bumper and brush guard!

I don't want to be mean because well done murdered-out cars look really good cruising and showing off, but if your main use isn't for show then I have to tell you that I used to drive a lot and have had several close calls with cars I just could not see at night. The last one was just last year and merging freeways I could barely see this dude's angel eyes, much less the headlights.

My main point is that it's not just what you can see, sometimes it's if other people can see you.

I blacked out the headlights (and signals lights and tail lights, lol) on my Mustang, if that helps.

Daytime running lights are mandatory in Canada, from what I can tell they're still visible for oncoming cars, but I wouldn't want to drive at night with them (and don't daily drive my Mustang so it's not a problem). If there is a chance you will be driving at night, I would definitely NOT suggest tinting your headlights.

Has anyone done this? Is it a tint/film you can apply to the headlight and how does it affect the light output? Please share pics of your ride and links to the product. Thanks!
On a scale from one to dumb, this is dumb. If it only affected your safety no problem. But it affects everyone who shares the road with you.

I thought this was a question about taking the headlamps apart and painting the inside black. Tint over the top of lights diminishes the output and therefore makes it a stupid mod for many reasons.

It's mostly about standing out with a cool and different look. If all cars came with blacked out lights (that still worked fine) swapping to clear would be the coolness.
