Has anyone done this? Is it a tint/film you can apply to the headlight and how does it affect the light output? Please share pics of your ride and links to the product. Thanks!

Well.... it's just like tinting your windows.. the darker you go the smaller percentage of light will be able to pass through the tint.

It's illegal here, as with tinting your taillights.. which is definitely the more dangerous of the two.

No affiliation with the vendor, but I think that's called a smoked tint and here is one precut:

https://www.extremeterrain.com/sec10-bronco-headlight-tint.html

I want to also say there are taillights that come with the look, too. The plastic itself is smoked. I think my neighbor has some on his Jeep.

For those concerned, it's really only dark enough so you can't see the red/orange/etc when not on. It's not real dark, and the brightness of the light coming through even tint should still be fine. Not a look I go for, but certainly seen it around Houston/DFW.

20% would be decreasing the amount of light that hits the road by 80% if it's measured the same as window tint.

Up to you if you think that's smart or not. I'm sure it would make you look heckin' cool though 😎

I had a gunmetal color Chrysler Crossfire back in 2008 and the headlights were notorious for hazing over in a short amount of time. I put the light smoked tint on to protect against UV and it matched the car really well . I think it was about 70% and it still cut the light down noticeably at night. I would never do it again.

Daughter had tinted headlights on a used Escape we bought. Was just fine in town. Was even fine in our exurban dirt road neighborhood.

Day after the girls too a trip to Flagstaff I was buying non-tinted replacements on E-bay.

Bronco has the brightest headlights of any vehicle I have ever owned though.

Blacked out headlights seems like either wartime or an "urban youth" thing.

Not interested for now, but who knows what the future holds. 🤷‍♂️

I would be more interested in a metal light cover to protect from branches or other impacts.

While not the headlights (per se), I did put a blue tint on my Fog Lights and can attest that the effect is barely noticeable when they are on. You'll have to check with someone locally to see how law enforcement views a tint on the headlights. You may not be able to black-out the lights and a greyed-out look may not be quite enough for your likes.

In this picture you can see the lights on, but they give a bright white color. (My a-pillar lights are also tinted like the Fog Lights - you can barely notice here)

20 years ago I had a 1985 fox body Mustang GT. I had bought these "clip in and out" head light blackouts, they looked cool as $hit on black stang, but you could not see anything at night with them on.. (only tried 2-3 times) I would not do permanent headlight black outs on any vehicle.

Now rear I do have smoked and you can see they are not to bad and they look cool!!
