Broken mounting bolt on coilover

I bought a set of SAS takeoff coilovers and one of the lower studs is broken. I contacted the local dealership and was told I'd have to buy a whole coilover. I truly believe that the stud can be driven out and replaced with a new.
Am I completely wrong?

Press it out and use a grade 8 or 10.9 bolt - will be fine. Folks do that all the time

I'm guessing m12 but it's been a while. Honestly the biggest bolt you can fit in the hole.

Hahaha. So I'm guessing that it won't be a stud that I need to drive in. Just a regular grade 8 bolt unless maybe Fastnal might have a stud.

Yeah, press-in studs exist, but it's not uncommon for folks to intentionally pop them out and replace them with longer bolts, like installing top-hats that need more threads for them to catch. They are only studs to make the coil overs a little bit easier to install

And, I inserted the bolt from the bottom, nut side up, to improve clearance and avoid damage to the threads/nut.

Really? Sound like a good idea but I was thinking the other direction in case (probably not likely but with my luck) the nut would loosen and fall off, the bolt would still be in the hole. Of course as I'm writing this, thinking, if the bolt would fall out, it would mess up the holes while the other way, the bolts stays in and messed up the holes it goes through.

Yeah you want the bolt pointed up - just like the press-in bolt does.

If the nut comes lose it's gonna creak and bounce all over either way to do it. This is why we mark nuts with a paint pen though (and I cheat and use loctite).

By the time the bolt loosens up enough to fall out it will be making enough noise to wake the dead. Mine came with my Bilstein 5100s and had nylok nuts

Mine have never loosened, I used to check once in a while.

I forgot to tighten the upper bolts when installing, and yeah you will hear it!
