So I found out the rear shock mount at the axle is very attracted to rocks. 😄 🤣

I "tweaked" the drivers side one a bit...it kissed rocks on a few occasions....admittedly it my fault for forcing the Bronco over a Rock on the last obstacle of the day....so I ordered some new mounts from Barnes 4WD.

I plan to take the coil over off this week, Iam thinking it's bent as well.

Does it look like it will need to be replaced...I didn't install them so Iam not sure if the bolt is just bent or those spacers are part of the shock....they are Fabtech Coil Overs.

Damn those look trashed! did you lunch it into a rock garden? after you straighten out and rebuild those tweaked ones, you need to chop off the lower 2.5inches and re-drill the hole 2" above the original.

this gives alot more clearance and a nearly free 2" lift as well. a win-win.

I was climbing a rock ledge but caught it on a rock coming up.

I'll have to see if the new ones are as low as the stock.

I see a bunch of grinding/cutting/welding in your future….. looks like the control arm bracket and the coilover brackets are trashed

Well, some welding on each side of the new brackets. A flap disk will make short work of grinding off the old bracket.

The control arm bracket is untouched.

WOW!!! Mine are pretty banged up, but nothing like that.. I may try what @ bigmeatsbronco suggested.. Seems like that should definitely help.. Keep us posted on your fix my friend..

Wowza, that took a serious hit!! Hopefully some aftermarket solutions, besides skids, will gradually appear…. Raising shock/strut bolt/height would make great sense.

Not really sure why Ford couldn’t have engineered all those components with 3-4” more of grd clearance ….

DV8 Rear shock skids cover both the lower shock mount and lower control arm mount. They also make great front lower A-arm skids

What's the thickness of those? To be honest Iam not impressed with DV8. If their armor is anything like their fender liners they are not made to last.

I will probably be buying the A arm skids, control arm skids and shock skids from Barnes 4WD.

Got the new Barnes brackets in today. They are boxed on the bottom vs open like the OEM and thicker. So they should hold up a little better. I should have them installed Tuesday.
